TEAM: Technology and Digital Experience

THE ROLE
The Product Management Lead is responsible for steering the work of several cross-functional teams ("pods") all falling within a given "focus area" (e.g. participant acquisition, teacher preparation, etc.). You will directly manage 2-7 Product Managers at various levels, each responsible for leading a particular pod's work. Through them, you will ensure their pods are delivering the maximum value possible to TFA, that resources are appropriately allocated, and that their work is appropriately prioritized. As well as mentoring the product managers, you will also collaborate with leads for other focus areas, as well as executives within the Technology team and elsewhere in the organization, to build strong relationships and ensure your focus area is aligned with larger organizational strategies. Your goal is for your focus area to be as impactful as possible towards TFA's relevant organization-wide goals.
This role is responsible for the Program Technologies focus area, containing pods related to data platform and knowledge platform technologies as well as pods responsible for the digital components of TFA’s application process, matriculation into our programs, and the experience of active program participants. The goal is to provide technology and personalized experiences that help users effectively participate in TFA’s programming.
THE PERSON
You will:
Collaborate across multiple teams & areas to create a cohesive strategy for supporting TFA’s programs with technology from application through graduation
Deliver organizational results through directly managed team members and team members within other organizational groups
Set the high-level vision for a group of teams working on a set of related products or technologies in this space, including data and measurement platforms, knowledge management platforms, application tracking systems, and more
Manage the product managers directly responsible for the work of each of your group's cross-functional teams, providing high-level steering and direction when needed
Maintain relationships with senior leaders and executives across the organization, both inside and outside the Technology team, to ensure your teams have necessary context and their work is aligned with the organization overall
Aggregate your teams' roadmaps, backlogs, and progress against goals, reporting on them at the executive level as necessary
Ensure your teams have the resources they need to succeed, serving as an escalation point and an advocate for budget allocation when necessary
Serve as a formal mentor and example for other product managers, helping improve the team's overall maturity and skill

Skills
Significant experience setting visions and roadmaps for large, complex workstreams and presenting them to teams and collaborators at executive levels
Exceptional communication skills, ability to forge alignment with both technical and non-technical stakeholders at executive levels
Strong past experience using epic, user story, feature, and task-tracking software (e.g. Jira, Asana, etc.) to manage ongoing work
A user-first orientation, including strong ability to partner with User Experience leadership to identify opportunities for design thinking and collaboration
A deep understanding of the role of measurement in digital strategy, including strong ability to partner with data professionals to create data strategies to drive product improvement
Solid experience in creating and running iterative product testing and optimization programs (e.g. A/B or multivariate testing)
Passionate about educational equity, with a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusiveness
THE HIRING PROCESS ( This section is required for all FY23 roles)
After we build a suitable pool of applicants, we intend to complete the hiring process within a 1.5-2 month time frame. The initial stage will consist of an interview with your potential manager, followed by group interviews with your potential direct reports as well as peers within the Technology team. Finalist candidates will also interview with key partners from other related TFA teams.
THE TEAM
The Product Management team sits within TFA’s larger Technology and Digital Experience (TDX) team, and is responsible for the strategy and vision for each of TFA’s digital experiences and platforms, in collaboration with engineering leadership. We are a group of dedicated Product Managers that each oversee a cross-functional team that supports a digital experience or a technology platform, and together we are a community of professionals focusing on improving TDX’s approach to digital product management.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The applicable salary range for each U.S.-based role is based on where the employee works and is aligned to one of 3 tiers according to a cost of labor index in that geographic area. Starting pay for the successful applicant will depend on a variety of job-related factors, which may include education, training, experience, location, business needs, or market demands. The expected salary ranges for this role are set forth below. These ranges may be modified in the future.
Tier A: $120,500 to $192,700
Tier B: $131, 300 to $210,000
Tier C: $142, 200 to $221, 800
