Tech Copywriter

About the Role

The HashiCorp Marketing Team is seeking a Technical Copywriter to join the Editorial & Content Team to create compelling copy for website pages, article titles, email campaigns, and display copy, video scripts, web ads, and more.

Reporting to the Director of Editorial & Content, the Copywriter will work on a wide variety of short-form content projects across many areas of marketing. We are looking for a creative and detail-oriented wordsmith with experience writing clear, accurate, and engaging copy for discerning technology and developer audiences across several different media.

The Copywriter will help HashiCorp continue to build its trustworthy brand, explain complex technical concepts simply, initiate sustainable seller-buyer relationships, and generate leads and sales. We're looking for an addition to our growing team who can build sparkling copy that goes beyond the specs to represent the value of our products and services to our customers.

In this role you can expect to:

• Write clear, concise, and compelling technical marketing and digital content aimed at technology practitioners and decision makers
• Write new website copy for product, solution, pricing, company, and event pages
• Write emails and newsletters for external audiences
• Help write video scripts and storyboards
• Help create paid social media messaging
• Occasionally work on longer-form content projects like blog posts, bylines, and whitepapers
• Interpret creative direction and technical information and turn them into persuasive copy concepts
• Consistently infuse our brand values and voice into all copy to excite, educate, and engage the market.
• Proof copy for spelling, grammar, and other errors.
• Present copy concepts and final deliverables to internal colleagues.
• Work closely with the Design and Digital/Web Dev teams, as well as content collaborators (Product Marketing, Developer Relations, the People team, and others) to create copy strategy and execution for key web projects.
• Revise copy based on internal feedback/direction

You may be a good fit for HashiCorp if you have:

• Degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or a related field
• 4+ years experience in technology and developer-focused copywriting, either in-house at a technology company or at an agency working with tech clients
• A working understanding of enterprise IT technology for practitioners and decision makers — the ability to interpret marketing briefs to understand project requirements
• Familiarity with the particular needs and preferences of technical and developer audiences
• Technology copywriting experience and skills
• Experience working independently and with a team on multiple projects to meet tight deadlines
• Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact with people at all levels.
• Experience working collaboratively and using feedback to build the most effective copy possible
• Knowledge of basic SEO principles and how to incorporate them into compelling words for humans
• Experience working with content management systems a plus
