Job Purpose

The Technical Consultant provides a differential marketing advantage for AkzoNobel by delivering technical services to all AkzoNobel customers within an assigned area. They support the sales team by conducting technical reviews and providing consultative services to customers, distributors, and prospects. They also provide technical analysis, process analysis, and recommendations where appropriate. The Technical Consultant manages the implementation of technical activities for an assigned area while contributing to sales and profit target achievements. Additionally, they collaborate in the creation of educational content and consulting tools utilized by the entire Technical team. Acts as the right hand to the District Sales Leader and provides guidance to the Sales team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide onsite and online consulting services across a broad spectrum of functional areas including business profitability, marketing, and production. This will include large strategic accounts with multiple locations.
  • Creating new and unique technical consulting tools and or specific projects as defined by customer or market needs.
  • Provide classroom and/or online training to AkzoNobel’s customers on brand-specific curriculum. In addition, lead the development and updating of technical classes on an ongoing basis.
  • Expected to have taught at least 100% of current educational class curriculum.
  • Participates in the selling process by assisting with proposal development, making sales calls on strategic accounts, performing needs analysis, and making presentations on AkzoNobel’s technical capabilities in the sales process.
  • Responsible for technical participation in the Mutual Action Plan and communicating those activities with Sales, Distribution, and Collision centers.
  • Supervises performance versus plan objectives and recommends strategies to correct deficiencies by monitoring comparison results to increase the productivity of the Collision Center or Distributor.
  • Involvement in Collision Industry-leading organizations.
  • Educational original content presentations for regional associations.
  • Magazine interviews or articles featuring topical industry content portraying AkzoNobel as a leader in Collision Industry Innovation.

Level of Autonomy

This is a role that requires the job holder to make all day-to-day decisions independently. The job holder will be advising customers on the use of all AkzoNobel VR/CV brands, so, they will need to have a thorough knowledge of the products, industry, and the detailed workings of the customer's collision centers. All decisions on when, where, how, and why regarding customer visits for consulting and/or training activity, either virtually or live, need to be made by the job holder. Their input helps AkzoNobel’s decision to move forward with a new product or brand launch in the market.

Total Compensation

  • The salary range for these skills is $75,000 to $85,000 + 15% annual bonus.
