The MongoDB R&D Engineering Technical Program Management team is responsible for devising, implementing, and improving essential process frameworks that allow engineering teams to succeed in making MongoDB the best Developer Data Platform possible. As owners of the processes and associated tooling that streamline product development cycles from ideation to release, TPMs also manage the communication, timelines, scope and effort across projects and team operations.
As a Technical Program Manager, you will partner with key Engineering, Product, Finance, and Product Design stakeholders to deliver Billing and Payments features for MongoDB Cloud Products.
The Cloud Services Billing and Payments team is a cross-functional product development team based in the NYC area with members and cross-team partners spanning across North America. As a Technical Program Manager, you will be able to utilize existing MongoDB Program Management JIRA, Google Docs, and automation tooling to help your teams mobilize and scale its team operations.

- Experienced in managing technical projects and working with full stack development teams using a variety of project management techniques
- Experienced with 5+ years working in a technical capacity and/or in a project or program management role
- Able to appreciate the engineering concepts being discussed, allowing them to facilitate discussion and flesh out the details required to ensure successful delivery
- Able to maintain a strategic view of our software engineering processes even while executing on the daily operations of the team
- Skilled at communicating across a diverse set of engineers and stakeholders
- Hyper-organized and capable of juggling all of the data associated with projects and task-tracking
- Provide operational efficiency metrics and insights
- Able to quickly adapt to changing circumstances and stay ahead of the curve in a fast-paced environment
- Inspired to identify and innovate in areas where automation can replace manual work. The team works with JIRA and Google Docs so any programming proficiency with either or both tools is a plus. There are lots of opportunities to automate things
- Knowledgeable of agile methodologies and experienced with implementing project management best practices
- Driven by an attuned sense of priority and urgency
- Trained in working with project tracking software (e.g. JIRA, Airtable, MS Project, Smartsheets)
- Interested in learning everything about MongoDB
- Execute and improve the processes and tools that inform the daily life of engineering teams
- Drive coordination between product development teams and internal stakeholders to prioritize the team's backlog and plan its release roadmap
- Identify risks to the team's delivery, mitigating them where possible
- Own the data around the health of each team's project and ticket backlog
- Build and shepherd meaningful process improvements that will help product development teams strengthen their collaboration, communication, and partnerships
- Know when a project/team requires more hands-on management and know when it is time to operationalize and develop a process framework for the project and/or team(s)
- Promote a culture of continuous improvement by conducting retrospectives to help identify areas of growth and learnings within and across teams
- Recognize patterns in a sea of information and take action accordingly
- Expand knowledge into new domains as called upon
- In 3 months you will understand MongoDB R&D's platform and be fully ramped on engineering development processes
- In 6 months you will be actively partnering with your key stakeholders and own executing on those processes
- In 9 months you'll have begun identifying areas for improving the team's operations, building consensus for improvement, and have an implementation plan for bringing these changes to fruition
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, related fields or equivalent practical experience.
- Demonstrated technical aptitude and strong analytical skills with proven results
- 5+ years industry experience as a program or engineering manager
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to adapt style and delivery for a variety of audiences
