The Special Programs, Evaluations, Assessments & Response (SPEAR) Team is seeking an experience and talented technical program manager to join our security engineering team. This position is responsible for driving roadmaps and building metrics. You will work extensively within project management tools to build and track projects. You will work with stakeholders to build requirements and help deliver security products. You will work within a team of experienced engineers and security professionals to improve the security posture of Amazon sites across the globe! This role is remotely based and requires travel, amounting to 15% on average.
Key job responsibilities
- As a Technical Program Manager, you will lead SPEAR’s many ongoing multi-disciplinary projects
- Using your security and technical expertise, you will deliver on time and on par with SPEAR’s high standards
- You will serve as a key gateway, collaborating with internal and external security, engineering, and, operational teams to ensure SPEAR’s integration with other security programs is carried out in a synchronous and sustainable manner
- You will leverage technology, drive automation, and deliver process improvements for SPEAR and our stakeholders to further critical efficiency gains in our mission and raise the bar for AWS physical security
- Directly manage security projects, programs, campaigns, and operational initiatives
- Break down security goals into attainable, measurable work streams
- Build relationships and steer engineering teams towards delivery
- Communicate with data backed status reports and dashboards
- Detail technical requirements and prepare roadmaps
- Recommend and manage schedules and priorities
- Create targeted metrics for project status and effectiveness
- Communicate a strong understanding of security and risk management
- Identify areas for improvement and deliver solutions
- Understand system architecture, maintain dependencies throughout upstream change
- Assess engineering practices for stability and security

SPEAR specializes in identifying and providing recommendations for the challenging, unique, and out of the box security issues. SPEAR conducts deep dives of implemented physical, technical, and wireless security measures to ensure AWS’ customers’ information is safe and secure. SPEAR prides itself on delivering quality services to its stakeholders in a timely fashion to achieve a higher standard of security. Here at SPEAR Operational Support and Service (OS2) Security Engineering team, we build and manage a highly scalable, distributed systems and focus on the hard problems so stakeholders can focus on their business.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $101,700/year in our lowest geographic market up to $197,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
