Kaplan Institute- Illinois Tech is seeking to recruit a Technical Venture Analyst to support the Genisys Venture Immersion Program. The successful candidate will work closely with the Genisys Venture Immersion Program lead meeting entrepreneurs, performing in-depth technical diligence, recommending and negotiating investments as well as managing relationships with current and future donors. You should be passionate about startups and Venture Capital, and work to build a network of the best entrepreneurs, investors, and subject matter experts in the space. The ideal candidate has strong technical skills, previous experience in roles in startups and VC, as well as a strong network of entrepreneurs and subject matter experts. An understanding of and working in a university setting is highly desirable.
COMMUNICATIONS
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to all levels of an organization is a must.
CUSTOMER SERVICE
Excellent customer service skills and relationship building skills are essential. This individual will need to lead peers in a variety of endeavors.

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a STEM -related field.
Knowledge & Skills
Previous internship/part-time/full-time experience in startups or venture capital.
Superior analytical and technical diligence skills.
Technical skills, including programming languages and database management.
Excellent research, writing, and communication skills.
Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Highly motivated with a strong work ethic.
Strong familiarity with G-Suite tools.

Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibility
Generating new investment opportunities for the Genisys Venture Immersion Program.
Working closely to support the Program Lead on the full lifecycle of making investments: conducting due diligence, making investment recommendations, and supporting portfolio companies.
Conduct in-depth technical analysis of potential investment opportunities.
Analyze financial and company data, and communicate the insights to the investment team.
Negotiate terms of investment deals with company founders and management teams.
Develop a prepared mind about emerging frontiers in technology and the Chicago venture ecosystem through deep research and market mapping.
Manage and monitor portfolio companies, providing support and advice as needed to help them grow and scale.
Supporting curriculum development and training of Illinois Tech students on the various aspects of the venture capital process from sourcing to due diligence to creating term sheets.

Key Responsibility
Representing the Genisys program and networking with entrepreneurs, investors, and other professionals in the venture capital industry.
Creating and nurturing strong relationships with current and future donors with the goal of fundraising for the Genisys Venture Immersion Program. This involves creating collateral and pitching the program to donors.
Identifying go-to-market strategies and opportunities with university departments and the Tech Commercialization office and fundraising for Illinois Tech IP.
