Patron Associate, Straz Lounge Host

During the opera season, the Associate is responsible for representing the Met to Members and Patrons and their guests in the Straz Lounge before performances and during intermissions.  The Host greets Patrons and verifies active membership status at the door of the Patron Lounge. They also manage the Backstage Tour Program.  Post-season, the Patron Associate assumes part-time coverage of the Patron Office phone line, booking gifts and assistance with Patron ticketing inquiries. 


Primary Responsibilities
  • Patron Lounge Responsibilities
  • Greet Patrons and Members, ensure quality of amenities/services provided in room
  • Check or scan membership cards of individuals entering the Lounge (each membership card admits 2)
  • Assist Patrons with special requests, membership renewal, and general customer service issues as needed and cultivate relationships with an objective of increased giving.
  • Provide guests with membership brochures, ticket calendars, and other Met materials as requested

  • Other duties
  • Manage the Patron Backstage Tour Program and Special Tours.
  • Train and Evaluate Tour Guides, update Tour Manuals Annually
  • Provide superior customer service via the Patron Office phone line.
  • Coordinate the Patron priority period for ticket purchases and exchanges at the Box Office and greet Patrons who arrive to make their exchanges in person.
  • Make follow-up phone calls regarding Patron gift renewals, declined credit cards, matching gift contributions, and pledge collection.
  • Additional tasks to be assigned as needed.


Skills and Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree
  • At least one year of experience in a Development or Customer Service setting
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience working with the public
  • Pleasant and professional demeanor

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 
  • Experience with fundraising database a plus


Physical Demands
  • Energetic team player who works well with all personality types
  • Evening and weekend work required
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
  • Grace under pressure; may need to call upon house management, security and health unit staff as necessary.
  • Ability to work independently, multi-task, prioritize, and problem-solve in a fast-paced work environment


$23 - $25 an hour
