Basic Function

Primary function is to lead training programs at Bayport that support different departments in the organization. The training specialist executes the training process by performing various functions such as: needs analysis, design, scheduling, delivery of training, and seeking areas of improvement. This person will have a solutions provider mindset when working with stakeholders and seek to enhance the overall training experience.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Supports training processes to include the design, scheduling, delivery, and implementation of effectiveness measures.
  • Manages and maintains multi-area Power BI dashboards.
  • Leads the training processes and brings innovative ideas to the team for consideration.
  • Research, design, develop, and/or procure learning content to ensure an optimum experience for learners in a variety of roles.
  • Ensures training programs satisfy regulatory or Operational Excellence standards.
  • Ensures spending stays within site training budget and monitors training spending.
  • Ability to develop and present solutions to key stakeholders.
  • Applies basic project management techniques to advance milestones and deliverables of training programs.
  • Compiles process metrics and reports deviation from plan.
  • Develop various training content using computer programs such as Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Maintains the LMS program while managing employee records, track items, schedule courses, and compile reports.
  • Direct structured learning experiences and monitor quality results.
  • Is responsible for constructing various eLearning content using Articulate 360 authoring tools.
  • Is a resource for others to seek out assistance and then provide effective problem solving solutions.
  • Assists with various field exercises during training that include but not limited to climbing, walking long distances, and field auditing.
  • Works well in a collaborative team environment.
  • Keep up to date with industry trends and emerging technologies related to learning and development.
  • Mentors and develops various disciplines such as, but not limited to, operator or maintenance on the job trainers.
  • Networks with other training personnel.

Min. Qualifications

  • High School Diploma
  • Minimum 3 – 5 years of experience in a petrochemical or refinery plant environment.
  • Experience in a site training organization.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated ability to be self-motivated.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate and succeed in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
  • Ability to deliver to and engage with a diverse audience.
  • Ability to operate and succeed in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems.
  • Capability to be flexible with change.
  • Strong customer focus with a sense of urgency and ability to build trust and relationships with customers.
  • Strong interpersonal, impact and influence, teamwork, and organizational skills.
  • Highly motivated with excellent, verbal, written, presentation, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Training and Development or related field.
  • 5-7 years of experience in a petrochemical or refinery plant environment.
  • Success Factors/Plateau administrator experience.
  • Experience working in Operations or Maintenance roles.
  • Experience teaching forklift or aerial lift to a diverse audience
  • Experience with developing and maintaining Power BI Dashboards.
  • Experience with Power Automate applications
  • Knowledge in instructional design and adult learning principles
  • Knowledge designing and implementing on the job learning solutions
  • Familiar with traditional and modern training methods, tools and techniques.
