Translations Technician - T2

Primary Duties

  • Administers the Telephone Number Administration Database (TNA). This database also maintains multi-line hunt group numbers, call pick-up groups, easy telephone numbers and special numbers i.e. Centrex, DID, Coin, etc.
  • Opens/expands NXX's via National Pooling Administrators when additional codes or ranges are required. These NPA NXX's are entered into the NetOps Database to ensure the accuracy of the NODB Database to allow for service order distribution.
  • Responsible for tracking changes that occur in the Local Exchange Routing Guide (LERG) to ensure the accuracy of CBT's switching network.
  • Assist customer contact organizations with service orders which require telephone number assignment expertise
  • Required to perform March inputs associated with service orders that do not meet flow through requirements
  • Interactively works with other departments, equipment vendors and customers to resolve customer complaints, provisioning and translation functionality/problems and network trouble.
  • Analyze and interpret service orders and various work documents to provision switch translations for; NETQ, Busy Studies, Custom Calling and CLASS features, all types of Centrex services, BRI ISDN, 911 PSAPS, DOD, DID, Hotel/Motel, Coin/COCOTS, Inmate and Integrated/Prime/Trunk Advantage customers, subscribing to services provided by CBT, CBLD and Competitive Local Exchange Carriers
  • Provisions specialized switch translations for major corporations, i.e. Hamilton County, City of Cincinnati, State of Ohio, and the Public Library. Utilizes Lotus Notes documentation for Emergency Redirect Services. Also responsible for the provisioning of Resale, Unbundling and By-Pass services for the Competitive Local Exchange Carriers (CLEC)
  • Responsible for the provisioning of line translations associated with the individualized dialing plans for all Centrex 5ESS & DMS-10 customers
  • Provisions 800 Toll - Free orders for local Cincinnati Bell Any Distance (CBAD) customers in various systems, i.e. 8MS, CRM, SAS, IMSWorx, Microsoft Office Applications and the CenturyLink and Level 3 web portals
  • Operates as the Responsible Organization (RespOrg) for CBAD, the entity designated to manage and administer customers' SMS800 records
  • Administers voice mail systems to support moves, adds, disconnects and changes for all CBT and CBET customers
  • Administers the Service Order Administration (SOA) database to support local number and out of territory portability processes for the porting of telephone numbers for CBT, CBET and CBAD customers
  • Responsible for the creation of intercept records within the IMSWorx database so that CBT and CBET customers can have a transfer of calls established when a new telephone number is either requested or required
  • Provisions local ANI - PIC account code orders in various systems i.e., CBAD 5ESS, IMSWorx, BOL
  • Works with customers and/or vendors to test and turn up CBAD DAL, Prime/Trunk/Integrated Advantage trunks and non PRI dedicated trunk and their associated complex switch translations
  • Interprets service orders, TIRKS and Aegis word documents and circuit diagrams to enable them to input translations for DS0 and DS1 circuits in DACS. Provides centralized testing involving DACS for circuit installations and repair. Understands design parameters and criteria; which enables this position to trouble shoot design failures and understand the impact on test results. Remotely activates circuits.
  • Determines if critical dates, i.e., WOT, FCD, PTD, DD and IAD are being met, and assigns jeopardy codes in Aegis when missed
  • Overall responsibility for installation and turn-up of DS3 services in the Meta switches
  • Perform remote protocol analysis
  • Using Sun Workstations, PC's and test equipment
  • May be required to cross-train others

Experience/Background

  • Demonstrated customer service, problem solving and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated strong analytical skills, computer proficiency and attention to detail
  • Demonstrated ability to balance multiple, competing priorities while working under tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated flexibility and willingness to seek improvements
  • Experience with PBX equipment beneficial
  • Experience with GeoProbe, March, 8MS beneficial
  • Associate Degree in a technical related field would be beneficial

Prerequisites

  • Experience in switch, transport and equipment preferred
  • Experience in Aegis, AegisWeb, BOL, COCRIS, COMPAS, CRM, OS/Order, SAS, Service Now, SOA, TNA, IMSWorx and TIRKS or similar circuit inventory and ticketing systems preferred
  • Demonstrated experience as a Service Rep, Senior Sales Rep or Network Rep or equivalent within last 3 years
  • Demonstrated experience in trunking between customer equipment and the PSTN and complex translations preferred
  • Demonstrated experience in knowledge of Multi-line hunt requirements, Centrex and DID number assignments
  • Demonstrated experience in telephone number assignment process
  • Demonstrated experience in knowledge of service order requirements for telephone number, central office assignments, or switch translations
  • Satisfactory performance rating
  • Satisfactory attendance record for last twelve months
