Overview:
Halifax Health is seeking a Transporter for the ED Patient Transport Services Department.
Summary:
This individual is responsible for transporting inpatients in compliance to JCAHO, HIPAA and OSHA standards. Adheres to hospital and departmental policies. Utilizes computer skills to generate transport slips for inpatients. Assists with training of new staff during orientation.
Job Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.

Previous healthcare experience preferred.

Basic computer skills required.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Transports patients and patient charts for all sections of the department, following hospital and departmental policy.
Possesses knowledge and skills to care for newborn, pediatric, adolescent, adult, geriatric, and multi-cultural patients in a hospital setting.
Provides confidentiality and privacy for patients and their records.
Complies with “hand-off” policy within the department.
Maintains clean environment for patients by adhering to proper hand washing policies and wearing the appropriate protective equipment, i.e. gloves, masks, etc.
Assists Business Support Specialist in data entry for patient transfer slip in Meditech.
Assists in training of new staff during orientation. Provides input on problem areas for improvement.
Stocks supplies for department.
Attends meetings as assigned.
Adheres to departmental dress code.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
