Position overview:
The Controller’s Office at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory seeks a Travel Manager to administer and lead all aspects our travel and conference authorization and expense reimbursement processes including travel authorization, travel system management, travel policy ownership, risk and compliance administration, and reporting & benchmarking. Additionally, the Travel Manager will lead projects, manage, and develop outreach strategies that may include communications and process improvement initiatives and ensure associated process and activities comply with SLAC, Stanford University, Department of Energy and Federal travel rules and regulations. This position is expected to interface with all levels of staff including Senior Management and internal/external clients and provide a high level of customer support and experience.
Your specific responsibilities include:
- Lead and manage travel programs under minimal supervision.
- Lead the planning and operations related to travel for the laboratory that have significant business, regulatory and/or technical challenges requiring subject matter expertise.
- Evaluate programs or functions, policies, and procedures. Identify issues and develop alternative solutions which may include changes to programs, policies, and procedures.
- Review and analyze trends to advise and develop recommendations to achieve or modify the goals of the travel program.
- Commit resources and provide information and/or training related to travel. Represent the travel program at the university level and/or to external/internal stakeholders and constituencies.
- Manage and contribute to the development of outreach strategy that may include relationship development, communications and compliance.
- Direct and/or supervise staff.
- May develop and/or oversee budgets; manage finances including monitoring, analyzing, forecasting, and reporting.
- Assess training needs and may develop associated training.

To be successful in this position you will bring:
- Bachelor’s degree and five years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.

In addition, preferred requirements include:
- Department of Energy (DOE) National Lab work experience.
- FTMS and eCC system work experience in a related role.
- Concur travel system experience in a related role.
- A working knowledge of PeopleSoft ERP.
- A basic knowledge of accounting.

The expected pay range for this position is $120,000 - $169,000. SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory/Stanford University provides pay ranges representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for a position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined based on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, geographic location, and external market pay for comparable jobs.
