Job Description

Turner & Townsend Heery is seeking an experienced Estimator- Construction Management to work with our team and meet client objectives through the delivery of an effective cost management service.

The Estimator is responsible for providing independent cost estimates for new construction and change order work, as well as change order reviews for construction and renovation projects throughout the United States

The team consults on a wide portfolio of large-scale (multi-billion dollar) construction management programs for our key, well-known clients, including Federal, K-12 and Higher Education. 

To be successful in this position you must have great communication skills and be comfortable operating in a client-facing role. 

Job Objectives:

  • Perform Quantity Surveys and material / labor takeoffs.
  • Provide estimate and cost planning to include producing and presenting the final cost plan.
  • Ability to estimate at conceptual, programming, and detailed level.
  • Assist on feasibility studies.
  • Participate effectively with post contract cost variances and the change control processes.
  • Provide input into value engineering.
  • Maintain liaison with client and other consultants at all projects stages.
  • Identify improvements for cost estimating procedures, templates, and products, and refer ideas to leadership.
     

Qualifications

 

  • 5+ years of experience in estimating and construction.
  • Bachelors degree in Engineering, Construction Management with a Technical Focus, Quantity Surveyor, or experience in related technical field, or equivalent years of experience.
  • Experience working on commercial, K-12, and government construction projects of medium-high complexity.
  • Experience preparing large-scale cost estimates and change orders.
  • Good technical experience in all cost management areas; pre-contract, post contract and final account.
  • Demonstrate solid presentation, verbal, written, and communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, onscreen takeoff, blue beam and/or other related computer software.
  • Good organization skills, ability to multi-task, and be a team player.
  • Good knowledge of construction systems.
  • Experience with advising clients on value management and value engineering.
  • Good knowledge and experience gained within several industry sectors, preferably including government.
