Summary of Job Duties:

The Graduate Assistant (GA) for Food Programs in the Center for Community Engagement will assist in co-advising the Jane B. Gearhart Full Circle Food Pantry and Razorback Food Recovery teams of the Volunteer Action Center. The GA will help student leaders with volunteer management for both programs, assist with volunteer shifts, and continually improve upon processes that center feeding university and Northwest Arkansas communities. Additionally, the GA will provide developmental advising to student leaders informed by theory with the goal of supporting personal and programmatic success. They will oversee weekly one on ones with team leadership, attend weekly board meetings, attend weekly Center for Community Engagement meetings, and assist in supporting the practical operations of both teams. The GA will also be responsible for supporting and managing collaborations with both community and campus partnerships. The GA will report to full-time staff in the Center for Community Engagement.

A typical week in this position will often involve advising students in one-on-one meetings, attending standing meetings, supporting pantry operations by serving clients, and supporting RFR operations by collecting food from a community retailer.

This candidate will need to have the ability to lift up to 20 lbs and have a current driver's license.

Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job duty, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university

  • Enrollment in a Graduate degree-seeking program at the University of Arkansas

  • Candidate must have no lower than a 3.0 GPA

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Preferred graduate degree programs are Higher Education Administration and Public Administration

  • Undergraduate involvement experience in community engagement programming, event coordination, student activities and student organizations
