We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Data Protection Officer (DPO) to join our team. The DPO will oversee the organization’s data protection strategy and its implementation to ensure compliance with data protection regulations, particularly in the automotive industry. The role will also involve acting as a DPO for our clients, ensuring that their operations meet data protection standards. The ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of experience in data protection, with a strong preference for those who have worked within the automotive domain.
Role can be remote (Poland) or Hybrid in Warsaw.
Key Responsibilities
Compliance and Policy Development:
Develop and maintain data protection policies, procedures, and guidelines for the organization and its clients.
Ensure compliance with GDPR, RODO and other relevant data protection regulations across both internal and client operations.
Conduct periodic data protection impact assessments (DPIAs).
Monitoring and Auditing:
Monitor compliance with data protection laws for the organization and its clients, especially in automotive-specific contexts like vehicle telematics, connected services, and customer data.
Conduct regular internal and client data audits to ensure regulatory adherence.
Client-Focused DPO Services:
Act as the primary point of contact for our clients regarding data protection compliance.
Support clients by advising on data protection strategy, risk mitigation, and regulatory reporting.
Assist client teams in responding to supervisory authority inquiries and data subject requests.
Training and Awareness:
Provide training and awareness programs to employees and clients about data protection and privacy best practices.
Serve as a resource for internal and client teams on privacy-related issues.
Incident Management:
Manage and respond to data breaches and security incidents for both the organization and its clients, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
Maintain accurate records of processing activities for internal and client audits.
Collaboration and Communication:
Work closely with IT, Legal, and Operations teams to implement privacy by design in new projects.
Collaborate with client teams to ensure integration of privacy-compliant processes.
Industry-Specific Focus:
Address unique challenges in the automotive sector, such as data protection for autonomous vehicles, IoT-enabled systems, and third-party supplier management.
Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Experience:
At least 2 years of professional experience in data protection, privacy management, or related fields.
Proven understanding of privacy and data protection regulations like GDPR.
Preferred Experience:
Experience in data protection within the automotive industry, including knowledge of connected cars, vehicle telematics, or automotive customer data practices.
Prior experience working as a DPO for external clients, providing advisory services and compliance support.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Law, IT, Data Security, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Certifications such as CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT, or equivalent are desirable.
Skills and Competencies
Strong knowledge of data protection principles and frameworks.
Familiarity with automotive data ecosystems and industry-specific standards.
Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and balance organizational and client priorities effectively.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Problem-solving mindset and attention to detail.
