Job Summary

The University of Chicago's Department of Medicine's Section of Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism in the Biological Sciences Division is searching for a Research Technician, whose primary activity will be providing basic technical research support under the direction of the principle investigator. The position will perform small animal husbandry, including colony maintenance. Additionally, they will assist with cell culture, fluorescent imaging, and DNA, RNA, and protein isolation. Additionally, the role will be required to maintain a high level of independent work and responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Provides basic technical support activities to scientific research projects.

  • Ensures compliance of research activities with institutional, state, and federal regulatory policies, procedures, directives and mandates.

  • Analyzes possible solutions using standard procedures.

  • Writes articles, reports, and manuscripts.

  • Assists in drafting presentations on research findings.

  • Maintains technical and administrative support for a research project.

  • Analyzes and maintains data and/or specimens. Conducts literature reviews. Assists with preparation of reports, manuscripts and other documents.

  • Performs other related work as needed.


Minimum Qualifications

Education:

Minimum requirements include a college or university degree in related field.


Work Experience:

Minimum requirements include knowledge and skills developed through < 2 years of work experience in a related job discipline.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in biomedical research such as molecular biology, biochemistry, endocrinology, or immunology.


Experience:

  • Relevant research experience.

Technical Skills or Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
