Underwriting Associate

About the Role

Operations is seeking a highly motivated individual interested in working with our North America General Liability underwriting team.

Operations is an integral part of the Underwriting community whose contributions directly impact the productivity and the profitability of our underwriting team. Daily responsibilities range from handling data entry, processing transactions, collaborating with varying departments, providing technical and analytical assistance, and maintaining electronic records. This role adheres to internal guidelines, procedures, and service standards to ensure accuracy and efficiency to best meet compliance requirements.

The position is based in our Kansas City, MO, Alpharetta, GA, Chicago, IL, or Windsor, CT offices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate internally with underwriting, offshore operations, licensing, and accounting departments.
• Review account data for completeness and accuracy while maintaining compliance requirements.
• Investigate and service data discrepancies and technical issues in a timely manner.
• Perform assigned tasks according to Standard Operating Procedures to meet deadlines.
• Draft and issue policies and endorsements and process premium calculations and bookings.
• Generate and maintain electronic account records and documents.
• Utilize compliant systems, tools, and templates.
• Attend meetings, workshops, and trainings to learn processes, guidelines, and skills needed to fulfill the role.
• Participate on special projects as assigned.

About The Team:

The General Liability team is knowledgeable and dedicated. We support our underwriters who provide a variety of insurance coverage options to meet exposures and risk needs. We handle a large volume of accounts and work efficiently to service insurance policies for our clientele.

About You:

• Excellent computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and PDF editing software.

• Associates Degree or 1-2+ years of relevant experience.
• Ability to adapt to frequent technical and operational improvements.
• Outstanding attention to detail to identify errors and discrepancies.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills and willingness to develop professional relationships in a global environment.
• Ability to organize, evaluate, and prioritize personal workload while managing multiple accounts.
• Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively.
• Demonstrate accountability for area of responsibility.
