This position will report to the CEAS Senior Director of Student Professional Development and will build educational and workforce development opportunities and engage regional and national partners (including employers, national laboratories, higher education institutions, and related collaborators) in engineering and applied sciences industries.This position has responsibility for coordinating with CEAS and campus partners (faculty, staff, departments, campus support units) to grow professional opportunities (ex: internship, full-time jobs), while measuring key performance metrics for effectiveness. This position will gauge feedback from employer partners and identify ways to enhance student competitiveness for professional opportunities. To achieve these goals, this position will co-manage the activities of the Engineering Employer Relations & Events Specialist.In partnership with the CUBit Quantum Initiative (CU Boulder's interdisciplinary quantum hub focused on quantum information science, laboratory partnerships, and industry/workforce engagement) and other campus partners, the Program Manager will also have a lead focus on quantum education and workforce development. This position will lead co-curricular programming and student and faculty support with the goal of increasing professional experiences in the quantum industry.The Program Manager will be an active member of the Engineering Career Services team, who works to support the CEAS ProReady initiative, a career and professional development initiative in CEAS. This is a new position in CEAS, which will require candidates to possess excellent critical thinking, project management, partner engagement, and creative thinking skills. The Program Manager will work closely with CU collaborators (including CEAS, CUBit Quantum Initiative, Industry & Foundation Relations, Research & Innovation Office, CU Career Services) and external partners (including employer partners and state/regional workforce ecosystems) to work towards their goals.The University of Colorado Boulder is committed to building a culturally diverse community of faculty, staff, and students dedicated to contributing to an inclusive campus environment. Our mission is to generate new knowledge in engineering and related fields, and to equip students from diverse backgrounds to become leaders and citizens responsible for the betterment of individuals and society.What Your Key Responsibilities Will BeEmployer Relations - Engineering Career Services:- Lead the strategic employer relations operation for Engineering Career Services to connect employer partners, students, and CEAS partners with the goal of increasing student participation in internships, full-time hiring opportunities, and employer partnerships.- Coordinate and support employer relations, including CEAS academic departments, CEAS student support units, and other CU academic units.- Partner with CU Career Services on employer relations, career fairs, and Handshake utilization. Serve as the direct CEAS liaison to CU Career Services on employer relations matters, and actively contribute to CU employer relations network meetings.- Communicate employer relations policies and practices, in alignment with CU Career Services, the National Association of College and Employers (NACE), etc. to ensure fair and equitable recruiting processes for employers and students.- Use Handshake and other appropriate tracking systems for employer interactions.Quantum - Student and Industry Engagement:- Coordinate opportunities for students to learn about the quantum industry, which may include industry speakers, company and lab tours, and connections with industry partners, local labs, and other Colorado-based higher education institutions and partners.- Manage opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to engage in quantum professional experiences, which may include internships/fellowships, capstone experiences, leadership opportunities, and opportunities for part- and full-time employment.- Provide advising and workshops for students to apply for these professional opportunities, which may include relevant CU student societies/organizations and scholar group engagement.Quantum - Faculty and Staff Engagement:- Support and advise CU faculty to broker appropriate connections with quantum industry partners around education and workforce development initiatives.- Serve as a resource for faculty/staff to provide opportunities for students with whom they work with, which may include CUBit, Quantum Scholars, Quantum Forge, Quantum Research Exchange (QRX), Department of Physics, and CEAS.Management, Supervision, & Campus Engagement:- Provide co-supervision for the Engineering Employer Relations & Events Specialist and student workers.- Align employer relations work with ProReady key performance indicators and CEAS strategic goals. Track employer relations metrics in partnership with the Senior Director, CEAS Director of Analytics, CU Career Services, Department of Physics, and other key partners.- Seek employer feedback and data collection for continuous improvement and CEAS accreditation purposes.- Partner with campus collaborators to implement and promote career & internship fairs in quantum and related engineering and applied sciences industries.- Serve as a liaison with related CU partners and initiatives in engineering, applied science, and quantum workforce development, which may include CU Industry & Foundation Relations and the Research & Innovation Office (RIO).- Participate in state or regional quantum workforce events and opportunities, as assigned.Other Duties:- Participate in CEAS, CUbit Quantum Initiative, Department of Physics, College of Arts & Sciences, Engineering Career Services, and related events and programming.- Be an active contributor to the Engineering Career Services team, including staff and supervision meetings.- Given the evolving nature of this position, assume responsibility of tasks assigned by the Senior Director of Student Professional Development.- Stay apprised and current on relevant University and State of Colorado policies and procedures.- Participate in professional development activities and serve on unit, college or campus committees as applicable.What You Should KnowThis position is eligible for a hybrid work modality consistent with the College of Engineering and applied Science policy .What We Can OfferThe starting salary for this position is $68,100 - $76,616.
