The intern will have the opportunity to learn skills in marketing, digital design, communications, and customer and patron relationship management, while gaining an understanding of student career development at the University of Kentucky.As part of the Employer Engagement and Experiential Education team, the intern will gain valuable, practical skills through the support of career events, campus community hospitality, and career center support. This internship is overseen and guided by the Assistant Director for Experiential Education and all activities are informed by principles and practices of exemplary customer service and hospitality.Responsibilities:The Stuckert Career Center Marketing & Communications Intern will gain valuable experience in a wide variety of activities including:Learning to generate, manage, edit, layout content for marketing needs such newsletters, profile pieces, press releases, brochures, flyers, and social media using Canva and Adobe.Managing online post scheduling through Sprout Social.Write stories, cover career events, take photos and videos.Research marketing trends for career development.Serve as a representative for the Stuckert Career Center at career related events, talking to current students, potential students, alumni and employers.Help organize and take inventory of materials.Desk operations that include serving as the first point of contact for students, staff, and guests, checking students in, answering the phone, processing emails, routing questions, providing resources, running errands, filing, general office tasks, and assisting staff with projects.Other duties may be assigned to ensure the overall success.Qualifications:The ideal candidate will be able to work from August 23, 2024 to December 13, 2024 and January 03, 2024 to May 09, 2024. The candidate will be able to work 15-20 hours a week with possible night and weekend events. Students can access the UK Recruiting Calendar to see possible events they would be working athttps://studentsuccess.uky.edu/stuckert-career-center/uk-recruiting-calendar .The candidate will demonstrate:Interest in marketing, digital design, and public relations.Has knowledge of marketing with LinkedIn, Instagram, Facebook, Youtube, and Tik Tok platforms.Has experience with Canva/Adobe design platform.Has experience social media scheduling platforms such as Sprout Social.Has experience with photography, videography and editing.Has sound judgment, tact, diplomacy, and flexibility with different personalities and working styles.Has an attention to detail, strong multi-tasking and time management skills.Has strong organization and interpersonal skills.Has positive energy and a willingness to pitch in and be a team player wherever needed.Ability to think quickly on their feet, be flexible, creative, forward thinking, and adaptable to their situations.Ability to think creatively to solve last-minute challenges.Ability to work independently but integrate with a larger, cohesive team.Ability to lift and carry up to 25lbs.Training & Professional Development:Through this internship, the intern will have the ability to further develop these job skills as well as learn new ones. The Intern must be open to receiving feedback and guidance throughout the course of their internship.
