We seek excellent candidates in Computer Science and specifically Heritage Science, with needs in AI/machine learning, software engineering/HCI, X-ray imaging and tomographic reconstruction. A demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse teams to address challenges at the confluence of AI/ML and Heritage Science is highly desirable. Successful candidates must demonstrate a strong commitment to the EduceLab research enterprise, led by Dr. W. Brent Seales at the University of Kentucky. All Research Assistant Professor faculty are expected to focus on research and the management of research projects. We will consider only the assistant professor level. This position is not tenure-eligible and continuation beyond the first year is contingent on research funding to support the position. The Department, housed within the College of Engineering, has 23 faculty members. We aim to be a diverse community of researchers and educators pursuing pioneering research in computer science as well as interdisciplinary research collaborations at the university and beyond; offering all students the highest quality instructional programs including Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD degrees in Computer Science, Master’s degree in Data Science, and Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD degrees in Computer Engineering; expanding our reach to marginalized and underrepresented students, and serving the professional, local, state and global communities. The degree programs in Computer Engineering are offered in collaboration with the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering Department; the undergraduate programs in Computer Science and in Computer Engineering are ABET-accredited.
