Associate Program Director for Diversity, Equity, &Inclusion, Internal Medicine Residency Program - Clinician EducatorTrack, Junior rankLocation: Philadelphia, PAOpen Date: Jun 13, 2024Deadline: Jun 13, 2026 at 11:59 PM Eastern TimeThe Department of Medicine at the Perelman School of Medicine atthe University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for an AssistantProfessor position in the non-tenure clinician educator track.Expertise is required in the specific area of medical educationresearch and/or practice and administrative experience with ademonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion inhealthcare. A minimum of 2 years of previous faculty appointmentwith prior medical education research and/or practice andadministrative experience is required. Applicants must have an M.D.or equivalent degree. Licensure or eligibility for licensure in theCommonwealth of Pennsylvania and board-certified in InternalMedicine or Medicine Subspecialties by the American Board ofInternal Medicine (ABIM) or equivalent.Teaching responsibilities may include collaboration with theProgram Director and other program leadership to develop andimplement a comprehensive DEI strategy aligned with the program'smission and goals. We seek individuals who will championinitiatives to foster a culture of inclusivity, respect, andbelonging within the residency program. This role is pivotal inadvancing our program's mission of promoting diversity, equity, andinclusion in all aspects of resident recruitment, education,clinical practice, and mentoring. The selected candidate willinnovate and oversee the integration of DEI principles across theresidency curriculum, including curricular areas focused on healthequity and urban health. The selected candidate will participate inholistic review of residency applications and annual recruitmentefforts. They will enrich the mentoring program forunderrepresented in medicine house staff to promote professionaldevelopment and social support networks.Clinical responsibilities may include demonstrating outstandingclinical skills with ongoing involvement in patient care inInternal Medicine or medical subspecialty.Research or scholarship responsibilities may include theestablishment of metrics to assess the effectiveness of DEIinitiatives within the Internal Medicine residency program andidentification of areas for program improvement. Collaboration withProgram Director to collect and analyze data on diversity, equity,and inclusion within the residency program. Evidence of scholarshipis a required in the Clinician Educator track.There will be an expectation of the ability of the selectedcandidate to provide management and/or leadership.
