Position Overview:The University of Rochester is seeking a strategic and experiencedDirector of Human Resources Communications . This role is responsible for developing and implementing an integrated internal communication strategy that supports HR’s strategic initiatives and aligns with the broader goals of the University and URMC. The Director will lead internal communications for complex and sensitive HR projects, ensuring that faculty and staff are well-informed and engaged with the full range of HR services.The ideal candidate will have a strong background in internal communications, with experience in large organizations and the ability to manage communication efforts across diverse audiences. The Director will work closely with various departments and leadership to ensure transparency and consistency in messaging. This is a key leadership position within HR, focused on ensuring effective communication throughout the University community.Key Responsibilities:Develop and lead a comprehensive internal communication strategy aligned with HR goals.Oversee communications for major HR projects, ensuring clarity and effective messaging across the University and URMC.Serve as the primary contact for HR issues management, coordinating sensitive communications with senior leadership.Supervise and guide HR communications staff, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities and consistency in messaging.Collaborate with University and URMC communications teams to maintain cohesive and transparent internal messaging.Ensure the HR website and digital platforms are updated and support internal communication efforts.Create engaging internal content, including newsletters, presentations, and emails, to keep faculty and staff informed and engaged.Qualifications:A Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, or a related field is required, along with 5-10 years of experience in strategic communications, ideally within large organizations. Candidates should have at least 3 years of supervisory experience and a background in internal HR communications. Strong communication, project management, and leadership skills are essential, along with proficiency in both traditional and digital platforms.
