Digital Media Technology Services Live Events TechnicianIIPrimary Purpose:The Digital Media Technology Services Live Events Technician Iposition is responsible for AV technical support to the Universitycommunity for live events technology coordination, setup,operation, and tear down. They generate SOPs and set-updocumentations for proper AV delivery of live events. In additionto events support, this position includes vendor and customerinteraction in the evaluation, technical design and implementationof AV projects that advance the state of digital media technologyat the University.Essential Functions:• Coordinates and Operates all audio and/or video elements perlive event.• Complete set up of production equipment, including audio,video, lighting and scenic equipment, as needed.• Lead audio/video tech rehearsals prior to event with theclient.• Maintain design integrity and quality throughout eventincluding proper operational checks prior to event.• Set up and strike event space by moving equipment (furniture,staging, linens, dance floors and other AV equipment as necessary)to and from storage or production areas, loading docks, deliveryvehicles or containers by hand, dollies and/or otherequipment.• Properly and thoroughly clean technology area prior, afterand/or during events.• Maintain cleanliness and organization of dedicated storageareas of all equipment and inventory.• Employ continual maintenance of equipment and equipment/supplyinventory.• Ensure University standards of health, safety, and sanitationare employed.• Report breakage, damage, leaks, issues and/or other needs asthey arise in all venues.• Log support requests and issues reported into a centraldatabase and maintain their updates.• Recommend permanent AV technology installations to DMTSteam.• Assist DMTS engineers in the deployment of permanent AVintegrations.• Assist in consultation, and provide services in the design,creation, and delivery of digital media when applicable.• Generate reports and contribute to the implementation ofpermanent resolution to identified problems.• Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.University of the Pacific recognizes that diversity, equity, andinclusion is foundational to the success of our valued students andemployees. We prioritize policy and decision-making thatdemonstrates awareness of, and responsiveness to, the wayssocio-cultural forces related to race, gender, ability, sexuality,socio-economic status, etc. impede or propel students, faculty, andstaff.Minimum Qualifications:• High School Diploma and 60+ credit hours of continuingeducation.• One (1) year of overall audiovisual live events experience as ahands on technician.• One (1) year of small-scale live events technology coordinationexperience.Preferred Qualifications:• AVIXA CTS Certification.• Experienced in supporting Crestron, DM, Zoom, MS Teams. CAD,software, MSOffice, MSProject, MSVisio, Tri-caster, Black MagicDesigns, Lumens Camera Systems, DMX lighting controller,Sketch-up.• ITIL Certification.• Ability to provide hands-on support and troubleshoot digitalmedia live events technology systems.• Ability to comfortably discuss computing topics with varyinglevels of personnel from student to senior management.• Ability to set-up and operate live events audio system(s):(Voice-Lift, Microphone, amplifiers, speakers, sound board)• Ability to set-up and operate live streaming hardware:(Tri-caster, Black Magic and Camera control systems).• Ability to set-up and operate of web-conference meetingsoftware and hardware such as Zoom and Teams.• Understanding and deployment of different network connectivityfor live events AV: (AVB, Dante, VLAN, subnets, RTSP, Videoprotocols)• Solid written communication skills with the ability to writetechnical documentation or manuals.• Must be able to manage projects and be familiar with projectmanagement concepts.• Adept at reading and interpreting technical documentation andprocedure manuals.• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and analyticaland problem-solving abilities.• Ability to conduct research into emerging technology issues andproducts.• Exceptional communication skills including interactingregularly with Live events coordinators, electricians, othertrades.• Ability to maintain a professional and positive attitude in afast-paced creative environment• Demonstrated ability to work without direct supervision.• Experience working in a team-oriented collaborativeenvironment.• Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diversebackgrounds and cultures.• Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity,and inclusion in a university setting.• Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practicesand knowledge in their work.Physical Requirements:The physical demands described here are representative but notdefinitive of those that must be met by an employee to successfullyperform the essential functions of this job. Primarily office setting, AV closets and /or data centerwith exposure to noise and cooler temperatures.Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:Work performed during standard business hours. May be required towork on occasional evenings, weekends and holidays based onUniversity events needs. Travel may be required to other campuses,meetings or training. Workdays: Tuesday - Saturday with occasionalSunday. Work Hours: Tuesday - Friday 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM withoccasional early hours based on live events schedule. Saturday -8:00 AM to 5:00 PM with occasional eveningsValid driver's license required. Incumbent must also be able tomeet the University's fleet rules and be eligible to drive forUniversity business.
