SummaryAbout the Position: Provides comprehensive administrative, clerical, and typing support in the Engineer and Construction (E&C) Division Office to the Division Chief, Deputy Division Chief, Construction Branch Chief, and subordinate administrative personnel. Additionally, provides technical administrative assistance and support to Cost Branch (ECS) and Civil Work Technical Branch (ECT). The work requires maintaining a high standard of office dignity, respect, tact, and diplomacy.Learn more about this agencyHelpDuties• Manages and oversees the Division’s administrative processes and ensures that procedures meet office needs and are consistently understood and followed by both technical and subordinate administrative staff.• Establishes and continually develops complex administrative office procedures that affect the orderly and efficient flow of work in transactions within the branches, as well as parties inside and outside the organization at various levels.• Reviews and analyzes administrative policies, clarifies complex and confusing guidelines, and makes recommendations to higher level staff for changes to administrative policy.• Responds to administrative issues and inquiries and resolves a variety of conflicts regarding administrative policies and processes among organizational issues.• Provides administrative support services to Division Office staff and subordinate branch staff as needed.HelpRequirementsConditions of Employment• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.QualificationsWho May Apply: Only applicants who meet one of the employment authority categories below are eligible to apply for this job. Additional information about transcripts is in this document.GS-07 grade level Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing a variety of office automation systems and software to include word processing, spreadsheets, and databases to assist with clerical and administrative work. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-06).GS-08 grade level Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes utilizing a variety of office automation systems to assist with financial management actions and/or operating budget. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the Federal service (GS-07).ANDThis position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist types 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with 3 or fewer errors. I can type at least 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with 3 or fewer errors.Time in Grade Requirement for the GS-07: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).Time in Grade Requirement for the GS-08: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07).EducationSome federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.
