We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Engineering Power Plant Intern to join our team at AES Corporation. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain practical experience and insight into the operations of a power plant facility. As an intern, you will work closely with our engineering team and contribute to various projects aimed at optimizing power generation and improving plant performance.
Responsibilities:
  • Assist in conducting regular inspections and maintenance of power plant equipment, including turbines, generators, boilers, and control systems.
  • Participate in the planning and execution of plant outage activities, including equipment overhauls and repairs.
  • Collaborate with engineers to analyze plant performance data, identify areas for improvement, and propose innovative solutions.
  • Support the implementation of energy efficiency initiatives and renewable energy integration projects.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and resolving technical issues in a timely manner to ensure uninterrupted power generation.
  • Contribute to the development of engineering procedures, operating guidelines, and safety protocols.
  • Participate in the testing and commissioning of new equipment and systems. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and environmental requirements.
  • Conduct research and analysis on emerging technologies and industry trends relevant to power plant operations.
  • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and documentation as required.
Requirements:
  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong academic performance with a minimum GPA of [Minimum GPA requirement].
  • Solid understanding of power plant systems and operations, including familiarity with turbines, generators, boilers, and control systems.
  • Proficient in engineering software tools and computer-aided design (CAD) programs.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to present technical information in a clear and concise manner.
  • A proactive and self-motivated approach to learning and professional development.
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and regulations within the power generation industry is desirable.
  • Previous internship or co-op experience in a power plant or related field is a plus.
