The Regional Credit Recovery Officer (Officer)
allows the business to weigh credit risks by drawing up an assessment and analysis of the market, company and customer situation, particularly in the context restructuring and recovery situations for key clients. The Officer has a sharp eye for the relevant legislation and regulations (compliance) and acts in accordance with them across the full scope of the discipline.

The Officer will set up credit and recovery structures for complex, non-standard and high-risk transactions. In terms of difficulty, the subject matter explicitly requires the ability to create clarity and structure in the large diversity of strategic, business and financial-economic aspects that influence it. The issue is characterized by impact and a high difficulty: to come to a solution and quality advice, extensive specialist discipline-specific practical experience is required apart from ample expertise. The Officer acts as a sparring partner for the business, is characterized as a senior advisor towards leadership and relevant Business Unit members, provides discipline-specific coaching to underwriters in the Region and is a recognized expert.

You will be based in the United States (with a preference for Wayne, Pennsylvania or Des Moines, Iowa) and will report directly to the US Regional Chief Risk Officer, and secondarily to the Corporate Credit Specialist. You will work closely with 1st and 2nd line underwriting organizations, Collections and Recovery teams, and leadership to safeguard our portfolio and profitability.


Day to Day


Provide powerful functional guidance to the US business

  • Take Risks: Propose risk appetite in alignment with the business:
    • Manage and liaise with all DLL parties including Group Risk Management departments, internal stakeholders and external customers/partners within the United States with respect to risk, restructuring and recovery matters
  • Takes Risks: Execute business strategy and maintain risk profile within the risk appetite and risk taking criteria
    • Provides a strategic view and actionable guidance and opinion regarding DLL’s most challenged exposures
    • Approve nonstandard structured complex exposures and end-user/dealer/local vendor exposures that exceed the authority level of the Country and that are within delegated authority; recommend loan strategies to the Regional CRO and/or Regional Credit Committee
    • Ensure timely and quality submission of material to Global Credit Committee and Global Risk Committee
    • Manage credit and loan strategy activities concerning highly complex deal structures (highly customized payment conditions, agreements, proposals, recovery and/or restructuring strategies)
    • Beyond Regional Credit Committee authority / complex transaction structures, major deviations from approved vendor programs, typically large (international) clients
  • Take Risks: Provide clear, substantiation for new credit, restructuring and recovery decisions and product proposals and material changes
  • Own Risks: Embrace effective forward-looking risk management by identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring and reporting on risks incurred in business activities
  • Own Risks: Act consistent with the DLL values and supporting policies and standards
    • Provide coaching, guidance, training and coordination for the UB business
    • Coach country risk members and business partners in reviewing and organizing their own Country Risk capacity and capabilities for all risk areas as well as industry specialization, in line with the business objectives as well as the COO Risk planning and available budget, in such way that the COO and Country Risk strategy, planning and objectives are achieved.
    • Direct responsibility for coaching the (performance and development) of the Country credit underwriters in the United States
  • Own Risks: Demonstrate adequate oversight of risks in business activities via “in control” statements
  • Manage Risks: Implement supporting systems, models, processes, procedures and deliver training in order to adhere to policies
  • Promote an Integrated Risk Management culture in the United States, including Customer Due Diligence, Treat your Customers Fairly, portfolio management, emerging client risks, climate risk, etc.

Essentials

  • Master’s degree , e.g. in business economics
  • At least 10 years of work experience in an financial services industry
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in Risk Management as well in managing financial risks as also non-financial risks
  • Highly experienced Credit /Risk Professional, with 10+ years in complex transaction structuring
  • Superior Credit Application writing skills
  • Proven credit underwriting experience
  • Strong project/program management experience
  • Business experience in DLL’s line of business with high level of client engagements is preferable
  • Excellent track record in managing internal and external stakeholder relationships
  • Strong understanding and application of Risk / Reward
  • Quality driven and results orientated
  • Highly adaptable
  • Proactive and a self-starter
  • Strongly collaborative. Displays excellent ability to build internal and external relationships across a variety of levels, countries, and cultures
  • A natural Developer /Coach – creating and delivering high quality training across a number of functions and countries

Applicable Pay Range

$126,657.14 - $189,985.72

This position is subject to the terms of DLL’s compensation plans and policies. It is anticipated that the position will pay within the applicable pay range. The range is reflective of the desired primary physical work location and may be adjusted outside of the projected range based on geographical differentiation if the actual work location of the hired candidate differs from the desired primary location, or for other lawful reasons. Further, the position includes all other benefits provided to DLL employees, including healthcare benefits, 401k matching, vacation, sick leave, parental leave, possible discretionary bonuses, and all other benefits that are all governed by and subject to ERISA plan documents and eligibility.
