As a Azure API Designer, you will be responsible for designing global RESTful APIs. You should have a demonstrated experience in designing scalable, backwards-compatible API solutions. You will be the central API designer for the Global APIs and are expected to work with our regional API team to develop consistent, reusable data models on a global scale. You will be expected to work along-side the product owners to help define API specifications to achieve a business goal or define the modifications to existing APIs to achieve the business need. In this role you will be responsible for working with the team and participate in building pragmatic solutions and solve complex business requirements within the context of digital transformation initiatives.

In this role you will be part of the Digital team that is responsible for strategizing and delivering digital solutions to cater for a diverse business community. You will be an integral member of an exciting environment where digital solutions through various channels (Web, APIs, Mobile, etc…) are being implemented. The position requires someone who is self-driven, with excellent communications skills (verbal and written), works well under pressure, and effectively work with cross-functional teams. This role is also requiring visionary thinking ability and provide future-oriented solutions impacting multiple applications in the landscape.


Day to day

  • Define Global RESTful OpenAPI 3.X APIs and establish the overall DLL Global API Catalog.
  • Define updates to existing RESTful APIs to achieve a business need.
  • Work with the regional API teams to ensure consistent data models for global API implementations.
  • Work with internal partners in defining the API specifications for user stories.
  • Work with a cross functional team of engineers to design integrated solutions, test, and deploy.
  • Organize and promote the API Community of Practice, and establish the standards and guidelines for DLL APIs.
  • Think critically and provide end-to-end / scalable solutions impacting multiple systems.
  • Represent Digital team in various other areas of IT in providing integrated solutions.
  • Work closely with key business stakeholders and partners beyond the product owners/managers.
  • Work on products that are built in Agile and DevOps delivery model.
  • Create API designs that are flexible, scalable, and backward-compatible.
  • Contributes to engineering communities of practice, and documents work.

Essentials

  • BS or MS degree in Computer Information Science or related technical field.
  • 9 to 12 years of Information Technology Software cycle experience.
  • 7+ years on API teams with variety of technologies like Java, NodeJS, NoSQL, and Relational Databases.
  • 5+ years designing RESTful APIs (Swagger/OpenAPI 2.0/3.0).
  • Able to write and understand GraphQL schemas.
  • Experience with or knowledge of Agile Development methodologies (SAFe is a plus).
  • Able to define and solution technical system interactions to achieve a business need.
  • Excellent analytical problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a keen sense of customer service.
  • Excellent team player with proven ability to influence.
  • Willing to learn and work in a highly adaptable to a continuously changing environment.
  • Able to give and receive open, honest feedback and to foster a highly collaborative environment.
  • Outstanding communication, interpersonal, relationship building skills for team development.
  • Possible Travel (10%).
  • Experience within financial services is a plus

Salary Expectations

Target Hiring Range:

Des Moines $100.884,90 - $132.009,18

Wayne $88.006,12 - $151.327,36

This position is subject to the terms of DLL’s compensation plans and policies. It is anticipated that the position will pay within the target hiring range. The range is reflective of the desired primary physical work location and may be adjusted outside of the projected range based on geographical differentiation if the actual work location of the hired candidate differs from the desired primary location, or for other lawful reasons. Further, the position includes all other benefits provided to DLL employees, including healthcare benefits, 401k matching, vacation, sick leave, parental leave, possible discretionary bonuses, and all other benefits that are all governed by and subject to ERISA plan documents and eligibility.
