League Development Manager

Purpose of the Role
The League Development Manager will lead the growth, management, and innovation of USTA Adult League programs, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and player needs. Collaborating closely with the Director of USTA Leagues, this role oversees league operations, drives participation through strategic initiatives, and supports the successful execution of league championships. By providing leadership to Local League Coordinators and fostering relationships with key partners, the League Development Manager will play a pivotal role in expanding and evolving league programs to meet the needs of current and future players across the region.

Responsibilities:
Leadership & Program Development

  • Establish strategic priorities for USTA League programs in collaboration with the Director of Leagues to drive innovation and growth.
  • Lead and support Local League Coordinators in implementing initiatives that foster program expansion, including engaging underserved communities and piloting new programs.
  • Monitor and analyze participation trends, player feedback, and budget performance to guide data-informed programmatic improvements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, such as volunteers, club managers, and league captains, to promote program growth and engagement.
  • Provide expertise and training to Local League Coordinators on key areas like program regulations, rating systems, and digital administration platforms.
  • Leverage tools like Tableau to analyze data and deliver actionable insights that support local program growth.

Program Expansion & Innovation

  • Identify opportunities for program growth by establishing partnerships with local community organizations, clubs, and parks.
  • Implement new technologies to enhance participant experiences and streamline league operations, such as digital platforms for registration, scheduling, and reporting.
  • Regularly review and improve processes to enhance customer experiences and operational efficiency.

Collaboration & Teamwork

  • Partner with the Marketing Department to create promotional materials and campaigns that increase program visibility and participation.
  • Collaborate with the Recreation Department to build bridges between social tennis programs and USTA Leagues, ensuring smooth transitions for players.
  • Expand programming in public parks to strengthen the connection between community-based activities and USTA league participation.
  • Deliver high-quality customer service, ensuring all interactions meet organizational standards.
  • Develop and manage league budgets in partnership with stakeholders, ensuring fiscal responsibility and program growth.
  • Prepare monthly reports on participation, financial performance, and program risks to guide decision-making.
  • Represent USTA Adult League tennis at regional and national meetings.
  • Stay informed about technological platforms like TennisLink, Serve Tennis, and trends like World Tennis Number (WTN) to support player engagement.

Event Support & On-Site Presence

  • Provide on-site support for in-person events and programs to ensure successful execution and participant satisfaction.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Manage and guide Local League Coordinators, providing training, feedback, and support to optimize their performance.
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and goal setting for staff, ensuring alignment with organizational strategies.
  • Monitor team workflows and provide ongoing performance evaluations.
  • Address and resolve conflicts thoughtfully, ensuring compliance with company policies.
  • Approve and manage time-off requests and expense reimbursements.
  • Foster professional development and career advancement opportunities for staff.

  • Minimum qualifications: Must hold a bachelor's degree. May consider an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must live in New England. Must be able to travel to the Westborough, MA office at least once a week and travel between locations. Must be able to work some flexible hours including evenings and weekends. May need to transport 25 pounds; reasonable accommodations can be made as needed.

Compensation will be commensurate with experience, falling within $57,000 - $64,000

Eligible to enroll in our BC/BS medical insurance plan, subject to plan requirements

● Eligible to enroll in BC/BS dental insurance subject to plan requirements - 100% of monthly premium paid by USTA NE 

● Eligible to enroll in EyeMed vision insurance subject to plan requirements - 100% of monthly premium paid by USTA NE 

● Paid short and long term disability insurance up to 60% of the annual base salary;

Accidental death and dismemberment, and life insurance up to 3X your annual base salary not to exceed $200,000 - 100% premiums paid by USTA NE 

● Eligible to enroll in medical and dependent care flexible spending accounts FSA and a health savings account HSA subject to the plan eligibility requirements 

● Eligible to enroll in the company retirement plan. The company will match employee contributions up to 3%. Additionally, employees have access to company funded independent third party advisors for consultation and employee education. 

● Employer-paid access to our employee assistance program EAP which includes mental health counseling, health advocacy services, legal and financial consultation 

● 10 days of paid personal time off PTO, 40 hours of paid sick leave per year, 3 paid floating holidays, subject to USTA NE’s applicable accrual and carry-over policy 

● 20 paid holidays, 3 paid floating holidays, 2 half-day early closings per calendar year

● Eligible to participate in company sponsored workplace wellness programs including personalized coaching with Boon-Health 

● Eligible to participate in optional Pet insurance - Total Pet Plan and Wishbone pet insurance subject to plan requirements 

● Use of a company laptop, and cell phone or monthly phone stipend 

● Professional Tennis Registry’s PTR ACE Scholarship: Commit to becoming a PTR Level 1 certified coach for a reduced price of $129 (savings of $200) 

● Three 3 complimentary USTA New England Adult League registrations per year
