Clinical Business Intelligence Developer-Associate (Epic)

Job DescriptionUnder direct supervision, the Business Intelligence Developer Associate will work and support the ongoing development and enhancement of various BI/Data Analytics initiatives, focusing on data warehousing, data mining, data structuring, advanced visualization, and related technologies to advance the missions of UT Health San Antonio. The Business Intelligence Developer will provide first-tier support to counterparts from other application disciplines and end-users, ensuring the successful development and implementation of assigned applications. Preferred qualifications include education and knowledge in areas such as Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.Responsibilities• Queries, reviews and analyzes data from multiple internal/external sources to create dashboards, drill down capable reports and key performance indicators.• Collaborates and communicates results and provide awareness of processes to leadership, while performing analysis.• Documents the report templates and maintains a library of active reports.• Validates the extraction, transformation and loading of source data before migration to various data repository (Clarity, Caboodle, and other databases).• Supports ongoing collaboration with subject matter experts and ad-hoc reporting requests from clinical operations, administrative leaders and physicians.• Serves as a liaison to research focused departments and related clinical data needs.• Develops, documents and prepares user test plans as a part of the team supporting Epic upgrade cycle or other supported systems.• Performs all other duties as assigned.Qualifications• Gather and analyze business requirements to perform data modeling and mapping across multiple platforms for enterprise-wide BI initiatives.• Apply research and evaluation standards, descriptive statistics, and data management principles to translate complex data into meaningful content.• Extract, load, and transform data from transactional software systems into analytical software/BI systems.• Design, create, test, and maintain a portfolio of reports, scorecards, and dashboards.• Explore and develop analytics solutions, including the adoption of data science and artificial intelligence, to enhance data-driven decision-making and innovation.• Role activities include problem analysis, break/fix, design/modeling, implementation/coding, and testing.• Navigate a wealth of data, turning it into actionable and insightful information.• Work under the guidance of supervisor and collaboratively with other team members, as well as cross-functionally, providing guidance to define report requirements and validate results.• Develop and maintain appropriate documentation on all work products. Consult with business customers in the use of analytical & reporting tools to develop effective clinical, cost, quality & satisfaction outcomes.• Other duties as assigned.Education• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Information Technology or related field is required. Experience may be substituted in lieu of education.ExpereinceZero to one (0-1) years of experience is required.License And CertificationCertified in Tableau - preferred.Familiarity with Business Intelligence and Data Analytics tools - preferred.As specified by the department director, Epic certification for assigned modules are required within eighteen (18) months of hire. Epic certification must be maintained per Epic Corporation standards. - Required.As specified by the department director, additional certifications for assigned software analytical tools (such as Tableau) are required within thirty-six (36) months of hire. Certification must be maintained per Health-IT standards - Required.Required SkillsOne (1) year of related experience is required; experience in Healthcare Analytics is preferred.About UsBenefits OverviewUT Health San Antonio offers an excellent benefits package for its employees. TRS is a defined benefit retirement plan which UT Health matches employee contributions. ORP is for eligible faculty staff employees. Voluntary retirement programs are also available to invest before- or after-tax dollars with the choice of five quality retirement plan providers.Time Off - A generous leave program offers multiple paid leave options:• Front-loaded Paid Time Off: 128 to 208 hours (16 to 26 days) of Paid Time Off based on years of service, given at the start of each fiscal year.
