Job Description

Targeted Hourly Pay Range: Minimum of $23 to a maximum of $27

BENEFITS

Position Purpose:  
Responsible for performing two or more accounting/HR support functions including: Accounts Payable and Payroll. Provides support for special projects and audits. The Accounting Coordinator I receive training, guidance, and problem solving support from their supervisor on a regular basis. The position is expected to continually work on accounting skill development and enhancing their knowledge of the accounting processes and procedures

Primary Duties /Responsibilities: 

  • Compile and review payroll information, including checking timesheets for accuracy and completeness, prior to routing data to ADP for processing.
  • Assist new and existing employees with payroll questions.
  • Enter purchase order information into the purchasing system including proper account coding.
  • Assist with purchasing card transactions, communicating with vendors on payment and updating transactions with proper account coding.
  • Validate, route vendor invoices through the electronic approval process and follow up with the TCA.
  • Create requisition and receiving in the purchasing system.
  • Match purchase orders with vendor invoices and assign appropriate accounting general ledger codes on invoice and enter into the accounts payable system.
  • Submit and process non-purchase order purchases including proper account coding.
  • Handle vendor inquiries with reference to past due invoices and determine status of invoice.
  • Understand and apply sales and use tax rules that apply to vendor purchases
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Education / Experience / Background: 

  • High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required
  • Associates Degree in Accounting/Finance or related discipline preferred
  • Prior related work experience of 1 year required

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities: 

  • Strong team player

  • Time management: the ability to organize and manage multiple deadlines

  • Computer proficient
  • Basic Microsoft Excel and Word skills
