Director, Criminal Justice Business Development

VIA is making an impact, and so can you.

At VIA, our mission is to make communities cleaner, safer, and more equitable. We believe that by working across organizational boundaries, we can achieve greater collective good than we can individually. VIA overcomes digital barriers to collective action by providing the world’s most secure and simple data and identity protection solutions.

We are trusted by the U.S. Department of Defense and Fortune 100 companies around the globe to solve their toughest data and identity protection challenges. Using our Web3, quantum-resistant, passwordless technologies (19 issued patents), VIA protects data against theft, manipulation, and misuse.

Successfully penetrating the complex Criminal Justice (CJ) sector requires strategic vision and proven expertise.

VIA is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Business Development Director who will play a critical role in our expansion within this vital market. You will take ownership of identifying, pursuing, and securing key strategic opportunities, leveraging your deep understanding of the CJ landscape. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, energized by navigating complex public sector environments and contributing significantly to impactful technology solutions. Are you ready to make a significant impact at VIA?

In this role you will play a critical role in the following areas:

Business development and sales cycle management

  • Drive the full opportunity lifecycle for VIA’s CJ application, including identifying, cultivating, pursuing, and closing priority opportunities, with a primary focus on building a robust pipeline and achieving successful contract wins
  • Design and manage capture programs for specific Criminal Justice application opportunities, including leading:
    • Thoughtful organized sales meetings with prospects and current customers
    • The creation of compelling proposals that effectively address customer needs and showcase VIA's value proposition
  • Coordinate with other VIA team members and leverage resources to ensure alignment on cost models, certifications, and other sales mechanics
  • Utilize your networks, research, and VIA advisors to identify opportunities, develop targeted campaigns articulating VIA's value, and lead VIA's presence at key industry events

Solution expertise and sales enablement

  • Develop deep expertise in VIA’s Criminal Justice application, capable of effectively communicating and demonstrating its value and technical aspects to diverse audiences (technical and non-technical)
  • Internalize key messaging and create high-impact sales collateral (e.g., presentations, one-pagers, email campaigns), consistent with VIA brand guidelines and intent, to support the sales process

Strategic collaboration and market insight

  • Work closely with Client Delivery and Executive Leadership on solution conceptualization, feature specifications, project plans, pricing, IP considerations, and subcontractor management
  • Translate market trends, competitive intelligence, and customer feedback into actionable insights to inform the product development efforts
  • Co-strategize on overall sales strategy for VIA’s Criminal Justice application, including:
    • Determining VIA’s value and key differentiators to solve key customer use cases
    • Educating non-law enforcement colleagues on relevant use cases, market trends, and competitive insights

Existing client relationship management

  • Facilitate a smooth, methodical handoff to Client Delivery once new customer contracts are completed
  • Maintain a relationship with customers post-sale to remain in position for expansion or renewal opportunities and/or to address customer reduction/termination risks
  • Help collect payments and resolve other non-delivery commercial issues that may arise during contract delivery

What you will bring to this role:

Required experience and sector knowledge

  • Proven experience within the CJ sector, with a strong understanding of its unique challenges and opportunities related to operations, technologies, and procurement processes
  • Demonstrated experience in independently managing complex multi-party dynamics, particularly within government or public sector environments
  • Established network within the CJ community, including potential end users, key decision-makers, and funding sources
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams

Essential skills and abilities

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Proven ability to develop compelling briefing material and collateral that resonates with the target audience
  • Excellent strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, with the capacity to conceptualize and execute effective sales campaigns
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively

What does it take to be a successful VIAneer? Let’s break it down; our VIAneers are:

  • Self-motivated and passionate about leaving everything they touch better than how they found it
  • Firm believers that people should love what they do and are eager to build a culture that enables them to do their best work

  • People who lead discussions with curiosity and value diverse perspectives
  • Eager to explore new ideas, understand the power of feedback, and constantly seek opportunities to grow and develop their skills
  • Strong team players who thrive in collaborative environments and celebrate the success of others
