We show innovative companies how they can improve their applications and get to market faster. We do hundreds of events, thousands of marketing campaigns, research and evangelize ideas that move our industry forward, and more with the eventual goal of being used by every company in the world. 

The Opportunity:

How can you add value as a VP of Events and Field Marketing? From defining the processes, deliverables and tactics that our events and field marketing teams employ to generate tens of thousands of leads a quarter, to creating organizational infrastructure to hire, onboard and organize multiple teams tasked with global industry events, who’s headcount has nearly doubled every year, you will create or uplevel the ways that Datadog goes about finding new prospective customers and upselling existing customers on new products. We give our Events and Field Marketing team members the opportunity to investigate, pitch and execute new campaigns to continuously grow the business. 

As the VP heading our Events and Field Marketing teams, you’ll be responsible for rapidly scaling a division of marketers that will shape in-person and virtual go-to-market events supporting our products for different market segments, internationally and in regulated industries.

You Will:

  • Define and optimize the processes, workflows and infrastructure by which the Events and Field marketing teams function as they grow quickly in head count
  • Hire in Directors and first line managers to quickly augment our managerial bandwidth to hire explosively
  • Scale, train, standardize best practices and if needed, create new teams to captain regionalized trade shows
  • Oversee a constant experimentation and optimization process for promotions, trade show operations and other outreach efforts to increase engagement from sponsored events attendees
  • Enhance our post-events follow-up processes to turn events participants into customers
  • Own Dash, Datadog’s yearly trade show, as well as smaller regional customer summits
  • Evaluate greenfield field marketing tactics for Datadog, define an execution plan and set the systems in place to expand our go-to-market repertoire for executive buyers
  • Scale, coach, help hire and mentor Individual Contributors in the Field Marketing and Events teams
  • Direct the high-level creations and optimization of both new and existing (but rapidly evolving) campaigns
  • Work with the Product Marketing, Demand Generation, Marketing Operations, Sales, Customer Success, Growth Strategy and other related teams to optimize workflows that cross organizational lines
  • Set the tone, expectations, level of execution and mindset for a Field Marketing and Events division at a hyper-growth company

You Are:

  • An experienced professional with a minimum of 15+ years of relevant experience within in-house Events and/or Field Marketing. 
  • Ideally, a significant amount of these years of experience should be in B2B
  • A strong people manager with a minimum of 5+ years of managing managers and hiring manager experience
  • An organization builder with previous experience in building future-proof team structures
  • A coach who loves to mentor and develop employees
  • A strong presenter with an ability to command an audience
  • Available for travel up to 50% of a month

Bonus points:

  • Agency experience
  • Past B2C experience
  • Prior experience in a SaaS or other enterprise technology company
  • You’ve had professional experience in sales
