Overview:

Morning Brew is looking for a full-time Video Editor to join our fast-growing video team. This position is ideally based in New York, but remote work is a possibility.

As Video Editor, you will edit videos primarily for the Brew’s Youtube page. Occasionally, you may work on shorter pieces for social media. You will manage the edit for each video you work on: source stock images/footage, vet music, ideate graphics, meet deadlines and adhere to our programming schedule.  

We move at a fairly high pace, so preparing for post while still in the pre-production phase is vital. You’ll provide input on both creative and technical aspects of production in order to set the post production process up for success.  

The ideal candidate nerds out on the “how” of creating engaging video content for all major platforms. They get excited about things like pacing, format, and sound design to name a few. Digital media and internet culture are second languages for them. Lastly and most importantly, the ability to be a forward-moving, solution oriented team member is crucial.  

Here’s what you’ll be working on:

- Combine multiple footage sources to create highly engaging digital content, sometimes with the guidance of script and sometimes being your own initial story producer.

- Communicate with producers and motion graphics animators about any post production needs during pre-production

- Develop graphics with producers and motion graphics animators to further illustrate story and concepts

- Remain in constant communication with producers, team leads, and talent about the status of edits, needs, and targets. 

- Incorporate brand initiatives, both new and pre-existing, into all edits

What makes you qualified?

- 4+ years of editing experience in Adobe Premiere Pro

- Must have experience editing for digital/Youtube

- Proficient in After Effects and Photoshop

- Ability to be scrappy in Premiere and/or After Effects to create graphics and text elements

- Can transition from project to project and quickly & adopt different styles of editing

- Has a sense for incorporating music into their edits both for tone as well as pacing

- Experience editing for comedy, sketch, or monologues a plus

- Knowledge of content and style that performs well on all different types of platforms

- Comfortable working in a fast paced environment with tight deadlines

- Comfortable pitching series and episode ideas geared towards particular on-camera talent that aligns with our brand
