VK Program & Development Associate

PRIMARY OBJECTIVES

The Village Kids (VK) Program and Development Associate oversees the development and coaching of the VK volunteers. They also oversee the Sunday Large Group and classroom experiences from aesthetics to technology. This Associate is responsible for building a skilled Family Ministries volunteer community that functions under the vision and values of Family Ministries. The Associate must be able to recruit and care for their team by providing ongoing development and discipleship opportunities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides training, oversight, and development to volunteers and Leads through onboarding, onsite feedback/training and micro-trainings.
  • Ensures volunteers are trained around safety protocols in and around classrooms (Ratios, bathroom procedures, cleanliness, etc.) 
  • Oversees the vision, implementation and weekly execution of production technology in both large group and classroom environments.
  • Participates in preparing and executing all Surrey Family Ministries events and midweek activities, with a specific focus on the Leader In Training program and the Hangout Does events, which happen about every 6 weeks.
  • Participates in the budgeting process (collaboration with manager) and manages their areas of the Site budget.
  • Provides support to the Family Ministry Hub by having a role in the preparation, execution and follow-up tasks surrounding Hub events like Summer Camp.
  • Ensures proper oversight of the system for welcoming a child or youth with exceptionalities into Family Ministries.
  • Ensures all responsibilities are completed in a purposeful, strategic and focused manner that points people to Jesus.
  • Acts as a servant by inviting, discipling, training and equipping others to serve.  
  • Ensures all responsibilities are produced, promoted and led with a high level of innovation and excellence, honouring God at the highest level.  
  • Acts with a sense of ambitious urgency, ensuring all work is completed wisely and impactfully.  Time is a gift from God.
  • Maintains an openness to being a learner by committing to continuous spiritual, professional, and self-development. 
  • Contributes to the best team culture by participating joyfully and working well with peers.
  • Commits to thanking at least one volunteer on a weekly basis.
  • Demonstrates behaviour consistent with the Standard of Conduct as outlined in the Village Staff Handbook.

  • Volunteers serve joyfully and authentically out of the Good News that we are redeemed and have a purpose in Jesus. Everything we do points back to this.
  • Volunteers and kids continue to grow and become Christ-like disciples and disciple-makers.

  • People are given the opportunity to use their gifts and talents in high-capacity volunteer roles - entering into the work that Christ is doing through the local church.
  • There is unity in the VK volunteer community and strong relationships and partnerships with key leaders.
  • Volunteer teams are healthy in number and commitment; they are equipped, confident, engaged, and appreciated.

Culture

  • Teams are representing the truths of Christianity to the world in insightful, creative, and gracious ways - going into the surrounding culture to bring Jesus to everyone.
  • Relationships are being pursued with unchurched people - connecting with them, inviting them to family events, kids events and Sunday services.
  • Kids and families with all faith stories are able to be seen and, known and loved. 

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Philosophically aligned with Village Church Mission, Focus and strategy.
  • Fulfills character qualifications as highlighted in 1 Timothy and Titus. 
  • Fulfill the duties required of Village Church members as outlined in the ‘This is Village Church’ course.
  • Pursues a deeper relationship with Christ and greater spiritual growth through prayer, the gospel, and community. Is a disciple.
  • Understanding of the various developmental needs of kids
  • Proven ability to coach and connect with leaders
  • Passion and skillset to connect with the mind of a child and create a spark on a personal level.
  • High level of comfort with technology.

WORK WEEK

  • 40 hours - Sunday, plus four weekdays 
  • Occasional evenings and weekends.
