Job Description


Visa’s Global & North America Fintech Partnerships organization is responsible for managing the strategic partnerships and initiatives to advance the company’s innovation and growth agendas. The portfolio of partners includes global financial technology companies and other non-financial institutions with strong presence in the North American market. 


The Fintech Partnerships Internship model is based on Visa’s core business and growth drivers to ensure program participants are gaining the capabilities and experience required to support the direction of the business and become future leaders at Visa.  


Key responsibilities include supporting a team of global account executives in identifying and implementing partnership opportunities for a set of large Fintech client relationships. The role requires a curious young professional interested in partnerships and business development with a product solutioning mindset. On this team, the Intent will help identify potential deals and support the renewal of existing VISA partnership agreements. The Global & NA Fintech Partnerships team works closely with regional Fintech Partnerships counterparts, VISA's product and specialized sales teams, as well as other stakeholders such as Risk, Legal, Finance, Marketing, and others, to manage the partners’ needs while selling value-added services and executing partnership agreements that are typically complex, strategic, and cross-functional in nature. 


Business Segment Research: 


  • Review the market landscape across client verticals including Social Platforms, Wealth Management and Brokerage, and Small Business with a lens of positioning VISA as the market leader. 
  • Identify strategic opportunities for VISA by learning about various fintech segments and customer's business needs, thereby leveraging Visa solutions. 
  • Support the Fintech Partnerships and Innovation executive team in developing the overall group strategy with additional research and planning activities. 


Client Work: 


  • Assist in the management of client relationships with an emphasis on account growth, including client interactions.  
  • Build understanding of Visa sales methodology - consultative selling of Visa’s product and solutions. 
  • Help develop new and emerging segment clients. 
  • Analyze reports on client performance. 
  • Craft strategies and materials for client meetings. 
  • Deepen partnerships through value-added solutioning. 


Risk Solutioning: 


  • Collaborate with Visa Risk Advisors and Visa Acceptance Solutions teams to identify and enhance partners' fraud risk and authorization performance. 
  • Apply and grow your knowledge in risk management and financial authorization processes. 
  • Evaluate potential risks associated with new partnership opportunities and propose risk mitigation strategies to ensure the security and profitability of these partnerships. 


Execution: 


  • Work with cross functional teams to ensure partner implementations are on track and delivering against plan 
  • Collaborate with team to solve the problems that arise during the execution of programs with partners 
  • Proactively identify and solve complex problems that impact the management, relationship, and direction of the business 


Communication: 


  • Regularly report to department manager detailing progress of ongoing projects, ensuring transparency and effective communication of milestones and challenges. 
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships at all levels within the client and the Visa organization 
  • Proactively educate the Visa organization on market developments and partner opportunities 


Qualifications


Basic Qualifications 


  • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree, graduating December 2024 or later 
  • Strong communications skills, specifically, the absence of repeated grammatical or typographical errors, clear and concise written and spoken communications, and communications that demonstrate professional judgment. 


Preferred Qualifications 


  • Strong leadership potential demonstrated through employment (part time work or internships) or extracurricular activities 
  • Expressed interest in payments or financial services industry preferred 
  • Demonstrated history of planning, managing and closing a complex, competitive sales effort and managing deals from negotiation, to closing and through delivery 
  • Intellectual curiosity and interest in finding new ways to do things 
  • Strategic thinking and thought leadership 
  • Teamwork, interpersonal & relationship-building skills, and ability to lead by influence and example 
  • Competence in partnering, communicating, and managing/navigating through multiple disciplines and organizational groups 
  • Possess an executive presence and demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to present to large group


Additional Information


U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary for a new hire into this position is $21.00 to $26.00 USD which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.  


Work Authorization: Visa will not sponsor applicants for work visas in connection with this position. Future sponsorship will not be considered. 

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department 

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time. 


Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.
