Job Description

Team Overview

The Japan Client Relationship Management (CRM) team is accountable for managing client relationships with payment ecosystem stakeholders such as banks, financial institutions, platformers, eCommerce companies, wallet providers, etc.

The CRM team also works in collaboration with Product team, Marketing team, Consulting and Analytics team and other business function at Visa for the clients.

 

What a Sr. Business Development Manager does at Visa
The primary objective for this role is to manage relationships whilst identifying and executing on key business opportunities with platform clients, including Mobile Network Operators. This will center on understanding client objectives, business challenges and opportunities and collaborating with internal stakeholders to bring the best of Visa’s capabilities to help grow their business.

Key responsibilities of the role include

  • Excellent execution of key strategic priorities.
  • Distill the right vision and strategy for client relationships in collaboration with cross-functional Visa team members.
  • Build and maintain highest quality relationships across all levels of our client.
  • Working with client executives and working team to ensure their priorities and operational capabilities are clearly understood and our work plans are clearly aligned with them.
  • Act as the orchestrator of how our clients consistently experience the best of Visa’s global expertise by ensuring that the way that the entire Visa team interact with clients is professionally coordinated and clearly aligned to the priorities agreed with the client.
  • Achieving optimal balance of client and Visa’s interests. This will also include consistently analyzing the Visa business, market trends, regulations and competition to support optimal decision making.
  • Driving delivery of a quality sales pipeline for core products and value added services.
  • Take clear ownership and accountability of the risks of the business and ensure that as a team, we effectively manage risk through consistent application of all of Visa’s relevant Key Controls.
  • Becoming a go-to specialist of acquiring business and any related value added services for the accounts managed by the team

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

  • Native level Japanese and business level English.
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in sales, business development or management consulting
  • Good understanding of Japanese banking and financial services, technology services, and fintech.
  • Knowledge and experience with payments, eCommerce, and mobile technologies is a plus.
  • Experience and knowledge in acquiring business is a plus
  • Proven ability to design, negotiate and manage execution of business agreements.
  • Experience in planning, managing and closing complex and competitive sales efforts.
  • Experience in account planning, execution and project delivery.
  • Experience in stakeholder management at large, complex organizations.
  • Strong academic credentials. An MBA or similar degree from a top tier institution is preferred.
