We are looking for Versatile, curious, and energetic Software Engineers who embrace solving complex challenges on a global scale.  As a Visa Software Engineer, you will be an integral part of a multi-functional development team inventing, designing, building, and testing software products that reach a truly global customer base. The Work itself: 

• Design code and systems that touch 40% of the world population while influencing Visa’s internal standards for scalability, security, and reusability 
• Collaborate multi-functionally to create design artifacts and develop best-in-class software solutions for multiple Visa technical offerings 
• Actively contribute to product quality improvements, valuable service technology, and new business flows in diverse agile squads 
• Develop robust and scalable products intended for a myriad of customers including end-user merchants, b2b, and business to government solutions. 
• Leverage innovative technologies to build the next generation of Payment Services, Transaction Platforms, Real-Time Payments, and Buy Now Pay Later Technology

Essential Functions:

• Works directly with product owners to gather and refine requirements across products, adding and taking into account existing tools and solutions across the organization.
• Develops and designs advanced architect solutions that are robust and scalable, considering integrations with other solutions across the internal technical ecosystem.
• Provides domain expertise on the development of technical documentation of solutions and contributes to standard processes in technical documentation as needed.
• Plays a key role in the development and delivery of new features across products from end-to-end.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Basic Qualifications:

• 8+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an     Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 11+ years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

•  9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD
• Bachelor's degree in Math, Science, Engineering, or Computer Science, Information Systems or related field AND minimum 10+ years of experience in a directly related field. OR
• Master's degree in Math, Science, Engineering, or Computer Science, Information Systems or related field AND minimum 8+ years of experience in a directly related field. OR
• Minimum 12+ years of directly related experience.
• You have proven experience leading teams that have delivered high-quality large-scale enterprise class applications.
• You are a Java expert, and you have experience with REST APIs, JSON and exposure to container-based technologies.
• Working experience with Kafka, Spark, and Hadoop is a plus.
• Working experience in React and Vertx is a plus.
• Should have very good understanding in GenAI adoption.
• Hands on experience with database technologies like MSSQL and Oracle.
• Experience with HTML5, SASS/CSS, and JavaScript.
• Experience with modern JavaScript UI frameworks such as React, Redux, Angular JS.
• Experience building responsive Single Page Applications that consume REST services.
• You have strong experience with Agile development incorporating Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery, utilizing technologies such as GIT, Maven, Jenkins, Chef, Sonar, JUnit Ensure proper metrics instrumentation in software components, to help facilitate real time and remote troubleshooting/performance monitoring.
• Knowledge of Unix/Linux and working in a shell environment.
• Understand and own component security analysis, including code and data flow review. Collaborate with security team to implement and verify secure coding techniques.

• As an end-end champion for your products, you will have strong debugging and Unix skills to help support our Operations teams.
• A background in the Billing / Invoice domain is a plus.

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 143,200.00 to 207,800.00 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity.
