Provide timely and accurate vocational services to all Mutual of Omaha Group Insurance teams and external customers. Perform rehabilitation claim management and case administration functions to expedite the return of STD and LTD claimants to employment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Manages an active caseload of vocational referrals through proactive return to work services, job search assistance and vocational assessment.
  • Conducts comprehensive vocational assessment on cases for which vocational rehabilitation services will be provided, including a well-defined action plan documented for each claim within the claim system, supported by a cost benefit analysis.
  • Provides vocational opinion at various points throughout the life cycle of the claims. This includes short term and long term disability.
  • Communicates with claimants by telephone and in writing to present Mutual's rehabilitation program, perform transferable skill's assessments, motivate claimants to participate in rehabilitation activities, and coordinate all related matters. Communicates with all policyholders in order to analyze a claimant's job and determines worksite accommodations required to facilitate return to work. Discusses other return to work options with the policyholder.
  • Coordinates the cost of rehabilitation with the claimant's other insurance carriers, private and government funding sources and the LTD rehabilitation budget, authorizes financial expenditures to provide professional services, worksite accommodations, on-the-job and academic training expenses and rehabilitation settlements as appropriate.
  • Assures continued verification of total disability as required in the LTD policy and direct payment vendor services for persons involved in rehabilitation activities. Maintains contact with the claimant's health care provider to discuss the appropriate medical treatment and prognosis for return to work and secures medical authorization for both rehabilitation and return to work.
  • Provides forensic vocational evaluations that could include: occupational analysis, transferable skills analysis, research labor market, and coordinate functional capacity evaluations.
  • Completes vocational reports in a clear and concise manner.

  • Must be located in United States or Puerto Rico.
  • Thorough knowledge of Disability policies and insurance principles.
  • Sound knowledge of medical terminology, current ICD definitions, and disability management practices.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective negotiation skills.

VALUABLE EXPERIENCE:

  • Possess Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) professional certification.
  • Certified Vocational Evaluator (CVE) with experience in disability management will be considered.
  • Master's degree in Vocational Counseling or a related field.

  • Regular associates working 40 hours a week can earn up to 15 days of vacation each year

  • Salary Range: Minimum: $65,000 MidPoint: $84,000 Maximum: $103,000
