The VP of Investments Data is a critical new responsibility that will serve as the key business owner for data management on behalf of the Global Atlantic Investments office. This individual will understand the business concepts, identify and oversee data assets, develop business glossaries, and coordinate with Global Atlantic leadership and stakeholders to help centralize and drive our Investments data strategy forward.
As a member of the Global Atlantic governance community, you are responsible for managing and ensuring the quality and accountability of Investment data assets including reference data, ratings, KPIs, reports applications, and partnering with business and technical functions to onboard asset level data to our enterprise data hub using established tools and processes and ensuring the overall fitness of our data.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead, research and develop a specific data landscape for Investments use
- Be responsible for Investments data and information strategy and control, including owning the Investments data life cycle and closely coordinating with key stakeholders such as Investment Accounting, Investment Operations, IT and Bermuda finance and actuaries on components of data use and maintenance
- Quickly develop the business knowledge required to support the Investment function and related governance activities; manage data-related reporting considerations such as STAT and GAAP
- Partner with Investments leadership to define metrics and KPIs that drive business results
- Work cross-functionally to ensure data best practices are designed and implemented proactively and that Investments data is accessible with appropriate channels of access controls
- Act as primary business owner of reference data on behalf of Investments including ratings and asset hierarchies (both internal and external) associated with the assets that GA holds; facilitate how ratings are fed for Investments use
- Collaborate to create resilient and sustainable data analysis processes and data quality rules
- Follow guidelines and protocols that govern the proliferation of data to ensure that data controls are enforced
- Develop a deep understanding and alignment to GA's existing data governance framework and policy requirements
- Oversee hands-on development of data assets in GA's proprietary enterprise data catalog
Qualifications
- Minimum 6 years' experience in data analytics, project management, asset management / investments, or related area
- Experience with data analysis, data documentation, data quality monitoring and improvement
- Familiar with data governance concepts and have been involved in data governance roll-outs in the past
- Demonstrated track record and hands-on experience in data management/data stewardship areas, including use of Collibra or other data profiling and curation tools
- Strong understanding of organization's needs and ability to drive change
- Strong leadership and communication skills as well as the ability to influence key decision-makers and understand their points of view
- Must be able to work effectively both on teams as well as be self-motivated, task oriented, and organized
- Understanding of data concepts, including data design and modelling, as well as SQL, BI tools (Excel, Tableau, Looker, or Power BI) and Big data.
- Familiarity with insurance industry and related regulatory considerations a plus
- Working knowledge of Python, R, or VBA is a plus
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Analytics, Statistics, Computer Science or related field

Various jurisdictions have passed pay transparency laws that require companies provide salary ranges for any positions for which they are accepting applications. Global Atlantic has offices in Atlanta, Batesville, Bermuda, Boston, Des Moines, Hartford, Indianapolis, and New York City. The base salary range posted below is inclusive of the lowest cost of living geography to the highest in which we have a Global Atlantic office.
Global Atlantic's base salary range is determined through an analysis of similar positions in the external labor market. Base pay is just one component of Global Atlantic's total compensation package for employees and at times we hire outside the boundaries of the salary range. Other rewards may include annual cash bonuses, long-term incentives (equity), generous benefits (including immediate vesting on employee contributions to a 401(k), as well as a company match on your contributions), and sales incentives. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Compensation for our more senior positions have a larger component of short-term cash bonus and long-term incentives. The base salary range for this role is $118,541 - $225,792.
