VP Policy & Federal Affairs

Job Summary
The Vice President, Policy & Federal Affairs drives development and implementation of federal policy priorities aligned with corporate interests and goals. As the subject matter expert for public policy and federal affairs, this role serves as company liaison to, and fosters relationships with, key government agencies, Congressional committees, and industry groups to promote the interests of the Surescripts Network Alliance. The incumbent crafts and implements strategies to work with government, industry, and trade association leaders and lobbyists to educate relevant policymakers and regulators and advocate for the development and implementation of public policy, legislation, and regulations to advance the interests of the Surescripts Network Alliance.
Responsibilities
  • Establish and articulate policy priorities that further the interests of the Surescripts Network Alliance through collaboration with Surescripts leaders and understanding of customer priorities and needs.
  • Build relationships with federal legislators, policymakers, staffers, regulators, trade and industry association leaders, and standards making organizations and associations to ensure the profile of Surescripts, and to be poised to promote and protect the interests of the Surescripts Network Alliance.
  • Educate relevant federal legislators, policymakers, staffers, regulators, trade and industry association leaders, and standards making organizations. Shape legislative and regulatory agendas and actions to further the interests of the Surescripts Network Alliance.
  • Prepare policy briefings, regulatory comment letters, and testimony for pending legislative actions and provide thought leadership and recommendations to policymakers.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory priorities, trends, and opportunities that are relevant to Surescripts, and educate company leaders on the same.
  • Ensure and coordinate appropriate company participation in relevant government forums, industry group meetings and task forces.
  • Ensure that federal policy and legislative and regulatory strategy is reflected and understood in the development and implementation of corporate strategy and product portfolio management.
  • Secure and oversee external or internal resources to accomplish the foregoing effectively and efficiently.
  • Serve as senior leader within department, and key member of department lead team.
Qualifications:
Basic Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • 12+ years of experience in related, progressive roles
  • 5+ years of experience managing federal legislative and/or regulatory efforts in a healthcare or healthcare-adjacent enterprise
  • 3+ years of experience advising and counseling senior and executive corporate leaders
  • Exemplary professional writing skills
  • Honed collaboration skills and proven ability to bridge corporate priorities and policy, legislative, or regulatory action
  • Substantial number of existing key-level contacts in relevant federal policy and/or regulatory sphere
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Significant experience speaking publicly to professional and industry audiences
  • Experience with intersection of healthcare and technology

At Surescripts, base pay is one part of our Total Rewards Package (which may also include bonus, benefits etc.) and is determined within a range. The base pay range for this position is $223,295 - $272,917 per year. Your base pay may vary within or outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including (but not limited to) your qualifications, skills, experience, and location.
