Full job descriptionThe Controller is responsible for the oversight and execution of the Club's accounting/financing operation; human resources, risk, and compliance; receivables and payables processing, including payroll; and Club technology. This individual must be tech savvy and data-driven; understand the connection between money and member experience; possess business, time, and organizational skills; and comprehend the nuances of seasonal hospitality and dues-based budgets. The Controller is responsible for managing the Club's data which illuminates the management decisions of key department heads in athletics and hospitality. The Controller attends Finance Committee with the General Manager and develops separate Operational and Capital budgets and reporting forecasts to exceed the expectations of the membership.Responsible for the following:Financial Reporting | Interdepartmental Communications | Data Management & Reporting | ROI/Project Analysis| Business Communication | Risk Management | Audit/Insurance | Oversight | Cash Management | Human Resources Management | Technological Advancement | Tax FilingsRequirements:• 3+ years in a Controller or 5+ years in an Assistant Controller position at a $4+ million enterprise is preferred.• GAAP: 3 years (Required)• A measurable track record of unblemished honesty and integrity, strong written and verbal communication, evidence of successful cost savings and revenue growth recommendations, and organizational skills are requisite.• Private Club experience strongly preferred.Education and Technical Skills:Bachelors or Associates degree in Accounting, Business, or Finance is desirable, but not required. Software proficiency expected on Microsoft Office platforms - especially Excel and Publisher, Google Drive platforms, among others. Skills in accounting systems which integrate with Point of Sale and Rooms Management are viewed positively - We use JONAS software. General knowledge of tax applications (sales/liquor/real estate) and PA and Federal Employment Law, and advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) are required.CertificationCertified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Hospitality Accounts Executive (CHAE) or pursuit of them are desirable, but not required.
