Job Description: QC Technician- Richmond, VA
Position Summary: The QC Technician conducts comprehensive monitoring, checks, and testing of raw, in-process, and finished products and processes to confirm adherence to quality and food safety standards established by the QA department, internal protocols, and regulatory requirements. This role is instrumental in maintaining Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Safe Quality Food (SQF) standards, and overall product quality.Primary Responsibilities:• Conducts analysis of incoming, in-process, and finished materials using standardized analytical procedures, including tests for pH, Turbidity, Brix, Salt, Alcohol, Total Nitrogen, and Microbiological Sampling.• Performs standardized quality sampling and checks during production, promptly reporting variances and non-conformities to management.• Supports Production by conducting quality inspections before, during, and between product runs. Monitors plant sanitation and personal hygiene practices in accordance with GMP for food processing facilities, reporting issues to management.• Prepares samples for shipment and coordinates outside testing, updating results and notifying management of discrepancies.• Manages product hold procedures and releases according to company policy.• Receives new ingredients, maintains supplier documentation, and organizes ingredient information files. Maintains and updates Laboratory QC documentation (SOPs, forms, charts, tables), including data entry and ensuring data accuracy.• Performs maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment, troubleshooting equipment and systems as needed.• Manages laboratory supply stock for general analysis, including solutions and office supplies. Maintains flexibility to support all QC shifts as required.Essential Skills & Abilities:• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including overtime and weekends as needed.• Self-driven with the ability to work independently and strong attention to detail.• Willingness to work in an environment with allergens (soy, wheat, peanut, sesame, mustard) and adhere to required PPE and GMP.Minimum Requirements:• AS degree or equivalent experience. BS degree in a science-related field preferred.• Familiarity with lab safety protocols and handling of hazardous materials.• Working knowledge of HACCP; certification is a plus but not required.9481536
