Overview:
Marathon Petroleum Company LP has an opportunity for a Warehouse Supervisor position at its Galveston Bay Refinery (GBR) in Texas City, Texas. The Warehouse Supervisor will report to the Warehouse Manager, and all warehouse operations in the GBR Supply Chain Organization reports to the GBR Supply Chain Director.
Scope:
The Warehouse Supervisor is responsible for coordinating warehouse activities in support of the Company’s largest refinery. This position has approximately eight (8) direct and indirect reports which support a warehousing network capable of operating 24/7. The position supervises the activities of an hourly workforce consisting of represented Warehouse Technicians and Contractors. The normal weekly work hours for the GBR warehouse operation are four days per week and ten hours per day (Monday through Thursday).
Responsibilities:
  • Supervise Warehouse Tools Store Attendants in performance of their duties ensuring the expected standards of job performance, discipline and safety are met.
  • Maintain high Health, Environment, Safety & Security (HES&S) standards; lead and participate in activities supporting HES&S commitments. Ensure employees/vendors adhere to safe practices and follow requirements in the storage and transportation of materials. Ensuring the team’s personal safety is a priority.
  • Provide oversight in the execution of daily warehouse operations, including the management of goods receipts, goods issues, picklists, cycle counting, stock put away, logistics, catalyst, and quality control/assurance.
  • Coach employees and participate in the performance management process.
  • Ensure compliance with Company policies, procedures, guidelines, and requirements related to warehousing.
  • Establish warehouse strategies and organizational goals; develop/track key performance indicators (KPI); utilize root cause analysis to improve performance. Develop short- and long-term plans to increase the efficiency and optimization of warehousing functions; engage workforce in pursuing continuous improvement efforts; strive to achieve best in class status.
  • Ensure cycle count goals are met and 100% complete by year end.
  • Monitor workloads and shift work assignments as needed to ensure the success of the group.
  • Provide support to auditors (Accounting, Inspections, HES&S, etc.); develop responses to address any deficiencies.
  • Develop/oversee training programs, ensure employees/contractors maintain required training and certifications.
  • Monitor contracting workload by managing the number of contractors to meet current workload demands.
  • Support internal Business Partners (TAR group, Projects, Engineering, etc.). Collaborate and effectively communicate with them to create robust, sustainable relationships. Be proactive and understand organizational needs and plan/align material management strategies to business partner goals.
  • Optimize and maintain facilities (warehouses, laydown yards, chemical/catalyst storage, temporary storage areas, offsite storage sites); ensure stationary and mobile equipment are maintained and replaced as necessary.
  • Coordinate with turn around group and projects in developing warehouse budget; properly manage rental fleet, only renting what is required to meet current demands, and maintain financial discipline to meet annual budget.
  • Monitor computer-based training status of team members and ensure that they remain 100% compliant with required completion dates.
  • Identify and report any Supply Chain Cost Savings (Benefits Capture) in support of departmental goals.
Education & Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, or demonstrated professional warehousing experience can be considered in lieu of degree
  • 5 or more years of experience in Warehousing and Materials Management required
  • Proficiency in SAP, ITARS, MS Office, and MS Access preferred
