HDR is seeking an Intern to join our Water Business Group team in Columbia, SC. Ideal candidates will have a technical interest in water and wastewater treatment, pump stations, and pipelines. The Intern will be responsible for assisting with projects through the planning, design, and construction phases. Project types could include water and wastewater treatment facilities, gravity sanitary sewers and force mains, water distribution and transmission pipelines, water, and wastewater pump stations, and related infrastructure projects.

The Intern will support and advise civil engineers and technical staff in other disciplines and sections, complete technical analysis, write reports and technical memos, coordinate with sub-consultants, support senior staff to maintain project schedules and budgets, and produce documents in accordance with project scopes and quality program procedures. This position may have periodic contact with clients regarding ongoing projects and tasks and may require occasional field construction inspection.

Required Qualifications

• Enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's Civil, Chemical, or Environmental Engineering program (or a closely related field)
• Must have excellent communication skills and thrive working in a team environment.
• An attitude and commitment to being an active participant in our employee-owned culture is a must.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience/knowledge of water/wastewater/water resources projects with a focus on water/wastewater treatment, pump stations, pipelines, or water resources management
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite and AutoCAD
• Preference is given to local candidates
