Position Summary
This recruitment will be used to fill one (30 – 35 hours per week) summer Web Content Assistant position for Extension Communications at Oregon State University (OSU).

This is a summer position (August – September) but may be extended based on business need and budget.

This position will provide Extension website content support as part of the Extension Communications team.

Position Duties
80% Extension and Engagement website content support/maintenance:
  • Manually convert web resources into new content types (e.g., from PPT, PDF or webinar recording to article, from basic to advanced layout) and/or fill in additional metadata as part of ongoing content maintenance and migrating content between web-based platforms. Assist with other web-based content tasks as assigned, such as double-checking content formatting, using reports to check for and fix broken links, misspellings or other errors and inconsistencies
  • Assist in creating and using systems to track assigned tasks, time per task, and progress to show status toward goal completion
  • Communicate and work effectively by checking in to troubleshoot issues, ask clarifying questions and incorporate suggested improvements into future tasks
  • Effectively learn and use a content management system, digital asset management system and related software tools to complete tasks


10% Digital image content support/maintenance:
  • Support the unit’s digital image management system/Extension website integration by accurately entering, checking and filling in necessary metadata
  • Assist in reducing duplicate images and potential copyright and accessibility issues by researching and adding missing information such as photo credits or alternative text to images

10% Research and other duties/projects as assigned:
  • Gathering information to help inventory and assess content and communication channels used across the division

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
  • Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
  • Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard
    • High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program
    • Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term
    • Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term*
    • Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term
    • Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term*


  • International students may be allowed to carry fewer hours than specified above and still be considered “full-time” by the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS). A reduced course load is approved by the Office of International Services (OIS), and must be provided to the Student Employment Center.

Additional Required Qualifications
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Detail-oriented; able to understand complex processes in a way that allows accuracy in task completion
  • Able to apply instructions and incorporate suggested changes in a consistent way while practicing good judgement on when to ask for clarification
  • Must be able to demonstrate flexibility, prioritize and switch tasks with efficiency
  • Demonstrated ability to learn how to use new software quickly
  • Experience working and collaborating within a team environment
  • Experience with software tools such as word processing, spreadsheets, email, videoconferencing, and file sharing
  • Demonstrated organizational skills

Preferred (Special) Qualifications
  • A demonstrable commitment to promoting and enhancing diversity
  • Completed at least one academic year of college
  • Experience with managing content on websites
