Senior Director, Internal Audit (Hybrid)

Senior Director, Internal Audit (Hybrid - 1 to 3 days per week onsite in Irvine, CA)

Overview:

As a critical member of the Finance Leadership Team at WM Technology, Inc. (“WM Tech” or the “Company”), you will lead the Internal Audit function of the Company, reporting to the Audit Committee Chair of WM Tech’s Board of Directors and the Chief Financial Officer.  

WM Tech’s Internal Audit function is responsible for providing independent, objective assurance and consulting services designed to improve the Company’s operations and internal controls over financial reporting (“ICFR”) in accordance with SOX, and evaluating and improving the effectiveness of governance, risk management and control processes throughout the Company to enhance and protect organizational value.

The Company currently leverages outside advisors to fulfill the purpose and mission of the Company’s Internal Audit function.  This role is for an internal leader to work with our outside advisors to execute against the mandate of our Internal Audit Charter, while developing a plan to cultivate internal talent over time and build out the Internal Audit function.


The impact you'll make:

  • Submit, at least annually, to senior management and the Audit Committee a risk-based internal audit plan for review and approval
  • Communicate to senior management and the Audit Committee the impact of resource limitations on the internal audit plan
  • Coordinate with the Company’s internal SOX program managers and external auditors on matters relating to ICFR and SOX
  • Review and adjust the internal audit plan, as necessary, in response to changes in WM Tech’s business, risks, operations, programs, systems, and controls and communicate those changes as needed
  • Ensure the annual audit plan is executed, including the establishment of objectives and scope, the assignment of appropriate and adequately supervised resources, the documentation of work programs and testing results, and the communication of results with applicable conclusions and recommendations to appropriate parties
  • Follow up on engagement findings and corrective actions, and report periodically to senior management and the Audit Committee any corrective actions not effectively implemented
  • Ensure the Internal Audit team collectively possesses or obtains the knowledge, skills, and other competencies needed to meet the requirements of the internal audit charter
  • Ensure trends and emerging issues that could impact WM Tech are considered and communicated to senior management and the Audit Committee as appropriate
  • Establish and ensure adherence to policies and procedures designed to guide the Internal Audit function
  • Ensure adherence to Weedmaps's relevant policies and procedures 

What you've accomplished:

  • Bachelor's degree and Certified Public Accountant license required
  • 10+ years of relevant experience in Internal Audit, Technical Accounting and SOX program management at a public company
  • Demonstrated success in cross-functional collaboration
  • Ability to independently drive projects and manage outside advisors
  • Fully embraces and thrives in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Ability to be a thought-partner with senior leaders and Board members
  • Great communication skills, well organized, strong project management skills, ability to multitask and be a team player

The base pay range for this position is $217,000.00 - $243,000.00 per year
