Welding Manager

Day & Zimmermann is accepting applications for a Project Welding Manager to support a new client, on-site in Tennessee.

Our Project Welding Manager manages and supervises the project welding team to ensure quality products are produced while maintaining adherence to project schedule milestones. Manage aspects of welding requirements for fabrication and installation of structures, systems and components within the overall project work scope. Responsible for establishing staffing requirements and coordinating daily work assignments and shift schedules to ensure operational requirements are met for the welding team.

• Technical Knowledge - Extensive knowledge welding processes, welding codes, familiar with WPS`s, PQR`s, WPQ`s and WOPQ`s, ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics, and the ability to troubleshoot and resolve issues
• Leadership and Team Management - Effectively lead and manage groups, delegate responsibilities, plan and coordinate a variety of tasks, solve problems, resolve conflicts, make and implement decisions, and coach others.
• Business Aptitude - Knowledge of cost estimating and work order control and ability to work effectively with computer systems (including but not limited to Microsoft Office suite)
• Builds Strategic Client Relationships- Develops and sustains effective long-term business relationships with people (internally and externally) to create value and influence customer buying patterns and increase sales revenue growth and market share.
• Communicates with Impact- Clearly and consistently gets information across in a timely and effective manner both verbally and in writing. Demonstrates the ability to influence people and get them to take appropriate action.

What you need to bring to the table:

• High school diploma or equivalent (Required)
• Technical Education in the welding industry (Preferred)
• Minimum of 7 years of previous experience with welding activities, with 4+ years being experience in a supervisory role.
• Working knowledge of ASME Section IX with capability of becoming trained and qualified to perform all Welding Supervisory duties as described in QG-106.

What You Will Be Doing:

• Manages scope, schedule, cost and quality for assigned work utilizing D&Z methodologies.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and provide leadership through establishing expectations and accountability related to the execution of an effective Customer and D&Z safety program for client/site.
• Review work objectives and estimate man-hour and skill requirements to accomplish objectives while preparing and/or assisting other departments. Establishes staffing requirements and maintains manpower forecasts for all aspects of operations in all areas of the plant/site. Troubleshoot poor performance
• Coordinate with other departments, organizational units including contractors. Arrange for and coordinate the acquisition of equipment, materials, supplies, tools, etc. to maintain a sufficient supply for current and forecasted needs.
• Inspect work in process and resolves technical problems encountered and recommends changes in personnel, equipment, conditions (when considered appropriate) for more efficient performance.
• Identify, attract, develop, and retain talent through effective employee engagement, communication, and performance management.
