Software Automation Testing Intern

Overview

Summary of Responsibilities:

This role will work closely with project teams to define data warehouse and BI testing test approach and test plan in line with the Enterprise standards.  Responsible for creating, executing and maintaining data testing artifacts within projects.

Position Responsibilities:

• Works with the data test leads and project teams to create, execute and maintain the data warehouse test scenarios, test cases and automation scripts.
• Maintains the test data management and data warehouse testing frameworks using Informatica or other equivalent technologies.
• Builds and maintains an automation suite for master data preparation for various sets of applications.
• Administers the process for accepting, provisioning and fulfillment of data requests from in-flight projects and coordinates with release team to align the requested timelines with integrated applications’ environments and code availability.
• Uses Informatica to test the ETL loads at different stages of data acquisition via ETL, extraction (Operational Sources, XML, DB2, Flat files, COBOL, etc.), transformation (merging, cleansing, scrubbing, aggregation), staging, pre-load and data warehouse and operational data store deployments.
• Provides knowledge in automating the data warehouse and operational data store testing processes and testing validations using Informatica and other automation tools.
• Tests the data quality and collaborates with the business team to document the quality requirements.
• Identifies test data environment requirements and works with the infrastructure, network operations, environment and release teams to setup the environment across all integrated applications required to fulfill the test data requests.
• Works with the different project stakeholders to help define and document test data requirements, identify common data elements and business rules.
• Supports knowledge management related deliverables such as documentation of the processes and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Selection Criteria:

• Typically, two+ years of experience in data testing with:

• • One year of hands-on experience with any Data Profiling Tool such as Data Flux, Informatica Data Explorer or Data Quality.
  • One year of hands-on experience with any CODE base ETL tools such as Teradata ETL Tools, Fast Load, Multi Load, Trump, SAS Access, SAS Base.
  • One – two years of experience with any GUI based ETL tools such as Informatica, Data Stage, BODI, AbInitio, Oracle Warehouse Builder, Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services, IBM DB2 Warehouse Center or ST/Studio.
  • One year of hands-on experience on Informatica is required.
  • Experience with any TDM tools such as CA Test Data Manager, Delphix, or Informatica TDM (preferred)
  • Experience discharging the above responsibilities.
• Demonstrated knowledge of concepts such as OLTP, OLAP, centralized, functional, federated, data warehouses, data merging, cleansing, scrubbing, aggregation, dependent, independent, embedded data marts, star schema, different types of table dimension, types of facts and fact tables, types of dimension modeling and different types of OLAPs. 

• Demonstrated ability to write complex SQL queries to perform testing on the ODS, DataMarts and Data Warehouses.
• Demonstrated understanding of various SDLC processes, QA lifecycle and methodology with expertise in using market leading data testing methodologies.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment, including multiple platforms and architectures, diverse technologies and environments.
• Demonstrated accuracy, thoroughness and attention to detail; looks for ways to improve and promote quality; applies feedback to improve individual performance.
• Proven knowledge of source control systems and configuration management.
• Demonstrated ability to learn the product and data architecture quickly using the existing diagrams, schema and blueprints.
• Intermediate experience in Agile development methodologies preferable.
• Proven ability to deliver quality results in a fast paced and dynamic business focused environment.
• Demonstrated excellent verbal and written communication skills on both the technical and application facets of the job; ability to communicate information to internal and external customers in a clear, accurate, focused and concise manner

Work Setting:

• Works in an office setting and remains in a stationary position for long periods of time while working at a desk, on a computer or with standard office equipment, or while in meetings
• Continuously moves about to accomplish tasks, particularly moving from one work station to another
• Continually performs an activity such as transcribing, viewing a computer monitor(s) and extensive reading.  Visual acuity is required to determine accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of work assigned.  Ability to make repetitive motions of wrists, hands and/or fingers.

Educational Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or commensurate selection criteria experience.

Computer Skills and Knowledge of Hardware & Software Required:

• Informatica is a must.
