Wind Turbine Technician

Job description

There is a current need for skilled Millwrights in Vermont. We are seeking Wind Turbine Technicians to engineer wind-powered system processes such as installation or maintenance. The ideal candidate would be professional, experienced, and adventurous.

Responsibilities

  • Repair, maintain and install wind-powered systems on-site.
  • Inspect the exterior and physical integrity of wind turbine towers.
  • Troubleshoot problems (hydraulic, variable speed, etc.)
  • Service underground transmission systems, wind field substations, or fiber optic sensing and control systems.
  • Comply with local environmental and health laws.
  • Perform maintenance in accordance with OEM practices.
  • Perform data collection from wind plants.
  • Replace worn or malfunctioning components.
  • Collect turbine data for testing or research and analysis.
  • Install wind turbine towers on land or at sea.
  • Fit electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic equipment.
  • Test turbine blades and control systems.
  • Run safety checks on electrical substations and cables.

Requirements

  • Need to be physically fit and have good stamina, as this is a physically demanding job that involves climbing and heavy lifting.
  • Able to climb 80+ meter steel towers daily.
  • Able to lift up to 30 kgs worth of equipment.
  • Willing to work overtime and on short notice.
  • Technically minded and have an aptitude for mechanical systems and processes.
  • Consistently meet standards and have strong attention to detail to maintain safety compliance.
  • Rigging experience is a must.
  • GWO training is a plus.

UBC Millwrights are seeking experienced Wind Turbine Technicians and Apprentices (1 years' experience) to join Local# 1121. If you are an experienced Wind Turbine Technician with experience in rigging, alignment, Assembly, Gearboxes, blueprint reading, welding, and torch cutting or you are just starting out, this is your chance to advance your career.
