Through our Developing Professionals Network, interns gain mentorship, networking opportunities and lifelong career connections.Our National Lighting Design Team is seeking a Lighting Design Intern - Summer 2024 to work out of our Denver, CO, Seattle, WA, New York City, New York, San Franciso, CA, Irvine, CA or Los Angeles, CA office.This temporary position is seeking individuals currently enrolled in an Undergraduate or Graduate degree program with an anticipated graduation date of August 2024 or later.This 12 week internship will be part of the WSP Summer Internship Program that is scheduled to start on May 20th, 2024. The individual start date of the internship may be flexible.This opportunity is available for a college student in good standing working towards an Architectural Engineering, Building Science Engineering, Architectural or Interior Design degree within an accredited program.The candidate will gain experience with design projects under direct supervision of the firm's leading professionals.Your Impact• Support a variety of design tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.• Learn basic principles of Architectural Lighting Design.• Perform basic lighting calculations• Prepares materials for presentations, client meetings• Assist with in-office lighting mock-ups• Provides assistance in design, engineering or / and other technical area• Assists in requests for information, drafting correspondence for shop drawing reviews for construction services• Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.• Support preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.• Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.• Complete training on assigned tasks.• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.• Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.• Please note that there is no relocation or housing assistance associated with this internship.Who You AreRequired Qualifications• Actively enrolled in an accredited Architectural Lighting Engineering, Building Sciences, Architectural, Interior Design or related Undergraduate program.• Knowledge of AutoCAD, REVIT, and producing technical drawings• Experience with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint• Exhibits creative thinking and design oriented skills• Detail-oriented with an emphasis on quality work products• Demonstrated interest in lighting design or related field, and have a strong desire to advance skills related to WSP’s work and projects.• Competent interpersonal and communication skills when interacting with others, expressing ideas effectively and professionally to an engineering and non-engineering audience.• Capable of taking direction from leadership, mentors, and managers to executive projects.• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office automation, software, spreadsheets, technology, and tools.• Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug / alcohol and harassment policies.• Authorization to work in the United States at the start of the internshipPreferred Qualifications• Actively enrolled in an accredited Architectural Lighting Engineering, Building Sciences, Architectural, Interior Design or related Master's program.• Specific lighting design related experience and / or relevant lighting coursework.• Experience using lighting software such as AGI, ElumTools or Visual.• Experience using Photoshop, InDesign, Sketchup or other visual rendering software.• Knowledge of reading construction plans.• Experience with lighting design work, or worked on design project• Prior internship and leadership involvement on campus.• Please note that there is no relocation or housing assistance associated with this internship.Compensation :Expected Salary (all locations) : $17.00 - $28.00WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and / or federal law.Expected Salary (Colorado only) : $17.00 - $25.00WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and / or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant’s sex or other status protected by local, state, and / or federal law.LI-GA1Additional Requirements• To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily.
