How You'll Make Impact - The VP Compensation is an important leadership role in the Performance and Reward team. You will be responsible for developing and implementing Xero’s compensation programmes ensuring they align with Xero’s strategy and support attraction, motivation and retention of key talent.
- The role will manage a team of compensation consultants globally to ensure Xero’s job architecture and compensation offering is competitive, fit for purpose and well understood internally.
- You will take a forward-thinking approach to develop innovative programs that ensure Xero’s compensation offerings are competitive, equitable, and aligned with Xero’s strategic objectives and values. Reporting directly to the EGM Performance and Reward, this role is expected to bring strong thought leadership on global technology industry pay practices including the leadership of major change and transformation initiatives.
What You'll Do: - Provide leadership in the design and execution of compensation strategy, policy and frameworks appropriate for the technology industry, particularly SaaS and applicable to a global organization.
- Lead the digitization of all compensation processes ensuring salary reviews, incentive assessments and equity decisions are undertaken in a systematic and programmatic manner.
- Provide technical and people leadership to a team of compensation consultantsEvolve Xero’s global job architecture framework for compensation and ensure it’s fit for purpose in line with leading global technology organizations. Ensuring policies and practices are in compliance with legal and regulatory requirements across regions and countries
- Conduct regular market analyses to benchmark company compensation against technology industry standards and trends.
- Make data driven recommendations for adjustments ensuring competitive and equitable pay practices.
- Oversee salary surveys, establish salary structures, develop salary budgets and prepare policies and procedures to ensure the achievement of equitable and competitive employee compensation.
- Proactively assess competitive labour market trends. Maintains a working knowledge of federal and state legislation and labour contracts that may affect compensation policies Leverage HR technology and systems to streamline processes and ensure data accuracy and efficiency.
- Partner with internal stakeholders such as PX, TX, finance and others to align compensation initiatives with broader global organizational strategiesLead and work alongside compensation consultants to plan and deliver key cyclical processes such as annual and interim salary review processes, gender pay equity analysis and short-term incentive payment calculations.
- Develop a compensation education road map and lead the communications for people leaders and all Xero's on the interpretation and application of compensation structures.
- Lead the design of short-term incentives, long-term incentives, sales incentives, sign-on bonus, retention and project related incentivesManage relationships with consultancies/vendors on a day to day basis.

- Significant experience in global compensation, incentives and rewards programs.
- Preferably with a company that has experienced intense growthExperience managing multiple global stakeholders at senior levels.
- Project management and excellent communication skillsStrong background in HCM systems (Workday an advantage).
- Experience in leading change initiatives, process improvement and or simplification initiatives.
- Solid understanding of HR processes, data management and their impact on HR systemsProven experience designing and executing global total rewards strategies through HRBP, leaders and teams to achieve business objectives.
$180,000 - $230,000 a year
